- There was a router in the room but it did not work and we had to use different floors' wifi. - Bed and floor conditions were bad. One bed was rocking and the floor was torn up. - Even though the rule is not to hang out at the terrace past 9PM, some guests still do so and the managers did nothing to stop/prevent it.

Come as a guest, leave as a friend.
This place is awesome, located in a nice and quiet neighborhood. Centrally located within a 12 minute walk to Fukushima station and Osaka station, this hostel is quite convenient. The price is right and I the staff here are very cool, I came here alone as a guest and left feeling like family. I left to go to another hostel, but that was a mistake. Guesthouse Hive is a special place, the people there are great!

Walking distance to all Umeda Osaka stations, the mega shopping and entertainment spots, Kita has to offers. Yet in quiet and safe area. It has good facilities, TV, anime, games, towels, ear plugs, slippers etc, the services free such as toast and a small valuables locker, or little fees to share in cheerful living room. Staff are welcoming and helpful if you need direction or buy extra amenity. Women only room no extra cost. For this price, location, staff and services in Umeda Osaka you won't regret it.

Nice people to stay with!
When looking for a clean, inexpensive, no-frills place to stay this is a good option. This would be my 5th hostel in Japan and it is one of the better dormitory style places. Other guest houses had the option to rent rooms with 2-4 bunks in them with a locking door. This is a place that is a true dorm style but you are given a locker to place your valuables in. This place has a communal kitchen with amenities available for you to cook and eat with. And they offer toast and tea in the morning as part of your stay. Other places have offered the same for a nominal fee or not at all. It was hard to find the place at first, we took a taxi from the airport and the driver couldn't find it at first. It's hidden down small, narrow streets which is why i gave a neutral to the location. WiFi is included and it worked! The staff are very polite and helped whenever they were able when it was a question. I would recommend this place to people if they were on a low budget yet wanted a comfortable and safe place to be.

This place is nice. Staff are friendly, they also have a party sometimes. Living room is awesome. its like a common space for everyone to shared a moment.

Ten minute walk from the station, kept clean and the reception is very friendly. Had a broken wheel on my suitcase and they went out of their way to find someone to help.

Decent compact hotel with rooftop outdoor area
Staff are friendly and nice. Bedding comfort was fine. Showers are only on ground floor, but there is a lift. Nice little rooftop outdoor area and balconies on dorm floors. There is not much space in dorm rooms and shower rooms are on ground floor next to kitchen/lounge area.

Efficient check in, only problem was the person above me thought it was an awesome idea to rustle every plastic bag in Japan at midnight. Otherwise epic stay.

Claustrophobic and noisy
Terrible. It is indeed a hive; you'll be like a bee, in a tiny cell, unable to move or store your belongings. I could barely sleep as everyone is so close together, you can hear EVERY single noise. People were not quiet or considerate the night I was there. Also, there is only one shower area for the entire hostel. Lucky I was leaving at 6am so I showered before anyone else. I was so desperate that instead of getting up and leaving at 6, I ended up leaving 30 minutes earlier.

We are very sorry for all o inconvenience. We turn of the light at 11 pm to keep a room quiet, however now we need patrols more often in the night and try to keep rooms more quiet. For the shower rooms, only on the ground floor because of the noise. We would appreciate your understanding. JR大阪駅から徒歩15分ほどの場所にあり、近くにはファミリーマートがあります。その他にポツポツとカフェやバー、居酒屋などがあります。大阪観光やお買い物には最適な立地だと思います。15時過ぎ頃チェックインしたのですが、海外のお客さんの対応に手間取っていたのか少しチェックインするまで時間がかかりました。スタッフの方々は学生さん？なのかスタッフ同士でおしゃべりしていて、ちょっと居心地が悪かったです。設備については綺麗でアメニティもあり快適でした。

Just another hostel
Although my stay there was technically fine, I found it difficult. There wasn't enough room for luggage to be kept near the bed, and certainly not luggage for two people, as you would expect with a bunk bed. The women-only rooms were great, and people were very respectful in regards to noise and light.

Thank you for staying with us. Lady's room has small desk, dryer and mirror each beds. We are very sorry,There wasn't enough space for luggage to be kept near the bed, but you can keep your luggage the other luggage space out of lady's room. When you come here from Osaka station, you can see the big red signboard near by Sky building. Our guesthouse is really close from there.So I think you can easily find,if you go toward that one. We are looking forward to seeing you.

amazing considering the price
During check-in, I had to wait for a lot of time, and they were somewhat unprofessional in that they let the customers who came later than me check-in before they let me. Other than that, the price was really great, and the bed was comfortable. I was able to rent a bike cheaply which was nice too.

Small but clean.
Hostel is very small. Beds are tiny & no space to put your luggage anywhere except on your bed with you. Place was very clean & tidy. Breakfast was an added bonus. Staff were very helpful. Towel rental was overpriced but showers were good & free toiletries useful. Dorm was very hot but staff turned heat down for us. Good place to stay for 1/2 nights if you are on a budget & arriving at the station as only a 10 minute walk away.

Okay, but extremely crowded
When I walked in, I noticed how extremely crowded it was (space wise) in the lobby. When I went upstairs into the shared room, it's not any different. There was barely any room to put our luggage, let alone open it. I guess it's a super low key place since they had us put on our bedspread and pillowcase which was very difficult in a bunk bed. There was also only one bathroom to share between all the females. Thankfully, I got up early to use it but felt bad making so much noise since the sink was outside. It was a relatively close walk to Kyoto station which I liked. I think if I stayed longer, it would have been cool to hang out with everyone, but I literally went just to sleep.

Convenient location as it's only 10mins away from Osaka station. Nice staff nice environment esp the common place on 1/f but just that the bed was a bit too small and I cannot sit straight on my bed.

Staff was sooo nice!!
it was great. Especially staff who was a girl was so kind. she helped me twice. One is when someone brought my slipper without any comments. she told her instead of me. And she also found my rented pocket wifi together when i thought i left it at hostel(actually it was in my carrier). i was really moved her commitment. i'd love here. but i was unsatisfied that rooms was too much small even couldn't pass two people at once and had fewer toilet.

Commercialised Guesthouse
10-min walk from JR Osaka station. Although the staffs will smile and greet whenever we meet, somehow the whole stay feels so 'commercialised'. Compared to the homely feel I had experienced during my stay in a Hokkaido guesthouse Waya, this Hive is really far from it. And the structure of the bed and the bed light is quite wrong. Don't think will come back to stay again, will try for other guesthouse.

Great location average room
Stayed here for 2 nights. While the rooms aren't the most comfortable, they're clean and the staff is very polite. The location to great for the price.
