This property could be a gold mine but it is extremelg outdated; the roads to get to some of the villa are not good. The staff didnt intrifuce themswlves and were not friendly on our first intwraction with us. Im glad it was only one night, becauss there will not be any more or reccomendations.

We remember your arrival, your request at that time to cancel your booking, which we were unable to accommodate at such short notice, and your early departure this morning.Our guests tend to report that our staff are warm and welcoming, so we are surprised to receive your comments. Frenchman’s Cove retains the spirit of its creation from its design in the late 1950’s, which remains largely unchanged. Most of our guests love the ambience of the faded grandeur, and implore us to never change it. We are disappointed that it is not what you were expecting. The internal paths and roads are deliberately maintained to be accessible, but not so as to encourage fast driving, which would disturb the calm of the resort.

This is a quaint property with a nice beach and family friendly environment. The villas are a little antiquated but very clean.

The place is beautiful but very old. The villa we stayed in was beautiful but bathrooms weren't the cleanest and there were alot of bugs. I believe for the price I paid the least there could have been is coffee in the room. You give a full kitchen with no plates, glasses or mugs. Kitchen is kind of pointless. I was quite disappointed with the experience considering it was quite expensive.

Liked the vegetation. However, the facilities are horribly run down and not maintained. No restaurant on site, and had to pay for beach chairs that were in bad shape. Will not return nor recommend it.

Frenchman’s is simply a beautiful property, and we will certainly be visiting again. The room needs a bit of TLC, but that pales in comparison to the atmosphere is offers.

My stay at Frenchman cove was very unpleasant. I booked 2 villas for 3 nights., Whereas the grounds was very nice and well kept with the natural vegetation and flora … the villas were not well kept. Some of the furniture were so old.. the bathroom lighting was horrible. The Villa had a lot of cracks and spaces in the wood ceilings and windows. As a result, a lot of insects came in. The worst part of my stay however was getting up to rodent droppings all over the kitchen sink… microwave, fridge area and loud sounds of croaking lizards…. The management was kind enough to refund a nights stay but our experience was already damaged and we just could not enjoy even the last night. We Were very disappointed !!

We likedthat the villa was old style and nice. and the beach was walking distance. The floors were a little dirty but the rest of the amenities were nice and old school with new creature comforts like hot water and internet

The property looks as it it has not been renovated or upgraded in over 10 years, lights and fans did not work, sheets looked as if they have been on the bed for over a year and were hard and rough. The beds and seating area was not comfortable. The villa was away from everything and you would have a very long walk or you have to drive to get to the beach or the office. There was no one on the property after 5:30 to help. There was no working number to call and get to anyone in customer service. It was just terrible!!!

Facilities were shabby. No restaurant, no amenities, no wi-fi. no prior notification to bring your own water for drinking and access to the beach was denied as they closed the beach to their paying guests to accommodate a private affair. Very disappointing experience.

The beach was amazing but the property was very deserted. Maybe because of Covid. But there was nothing. No breakfast, no dinner. Only the Lunch at the small beach restaurant. I would recommend a daytrip to the Frenchman’s cove beach but not to stay at the resort.

The A/C isn't working, the fan can’t regulate speed, the kettle doesn't work, the glass sliding door of the balcony won’t lock, plus there is NO telephone can calling customer service and NO television, I feel like I've gone back half a century, even there is strange smelling from bathroom at night, a smell of decay. HERE IS THE POINT, 2 people only in one room, you have to book 2 rooms if you have a little kid in your family, their manager said “I don’t care about how does your 3 people family to stay, kid stays with Mom or Dad or alone, anyway you have to separate in to 2 different rooms.”this is a strange idea that I have never heard before. And they have a false message: the price include breakfast. Unfortunately, there is NO any breakfast, bring something to eat with you or you will start new day with hungry.

It is a shame that the buildings are in such disrepair as the location is beautiful and the staff is most helpful. As to the disrepair it has gone so far, that in the great house there was no hot water. The beach is wonderful of course.

Simply beautiful!
If you are no fuss this is the perfect place for you. Plus you get your own basically private beach. Don’t be fooled by other reviews. If you require fuss this is not for you.

The beach is incredible. The property is spectacular. Loved my days in the "jungle", trees that smell just out of this world. The sounds in an eco-system that is rather untouched/unaltered. Exceptional. The hotel however, I was disappointed with. The breakfast offered rather few options (boiled eggs, toast, jam and fruits each morning), but that was ok. The worst was the water quality: terrible! The water from the dispenser smelled like rotten eggs. And when I opened the kettle in the cafeteria, it had clumps of food in it. My room was fine given that I didn't spend much time in it, but no little refrigerator, kettle, of hairdryer.

The breakfast offered and amenities present are dependent on room type chosen. We do hope if you will stay again, we can showcase our offerings.

Bathrooms are extremely outdated. The toilets were running the entire time. Broken tiles. The towels had some odor. There were a lot of bugs in the room. The breakfast is a joke. The front desk person was not there in the morning and the guard didn't know what time she would be arriving. The only thing i I enjoyed was the beach. They need to update the rooms.

The location is everything. We loved our villa... photos online don’t do it justice. The ocean view from our villa was amazing. There’s no WiFi in the room but this is a place where you should disconnect and unwind. I do wish the rooms came with soap shampoo conditioner. The breakfast was as basic as it gets. Fresh fruit and boiled egg Will return

I love the greenery and the nature of frenchman cove. What would make it more comfortable would be a television and a refrigerator.

From your review it can be identified you stayed in our standard room as these do not carry refrigerators and will consider the implementation of minibars but encourage you to revisit and enjoy our villas equipped with kitchenettes.

Literally the worst property I stayed in on the entire island. Nothing works. Old facility. Hard to take a shower when the cold water knob doesn't work. Hard to sleep when the air conditioning won't cool. Staff is apathetic and slow. No amenities. Nothing works, nobody cares. Isolated. We booked two days, barely stayed 12 hours before we high-tailed it out of there. Pathetic.

We stayed at a one bedrom villa for three nights. It was beautifull, clean and spacious. The whole place is really beautifull with a private beach and a river falling into the sea! But the villas have no internet access nor 3G by Digitel, as hot spots only worked at reception area and sometimes at the Great House. Also the window doors were very old and locking them was very difficult and took several minutes. Drawers were falling off as well as kitchenette's cupboards. Although the place was run down the service was helpfull and overall we enjoyed our stay.

The resort is pretty outdated, but is clean and the grounds are pristine. The cove is absolutely amazing and you can sit on that beach for days.

they have one of the best beaches in Jamaica....

3 Star Resort this is not!
Expedia bills this resort as 3 stars! We booked based on the Expedia rating. This is the worst resort/hotel we have ever visited. We booked 2 nights and were charged in full at check in. Our room was dingy and dirty with no TV and there was NO HOT WATER at all to the room. The balcony was very dingy with only one old chair. We were the only room occupied in the large main building and were the only 2 guests for a very spartan breakfast. There is no phone in the room to call the office, very dark outside, raining and too far to walk to office to complain. We left as early as possible the morning after our first night, by taxi, there was no manager available to speak with and we asked for full refund via the front desk clerk, we did not hear from anyone from the hotel although we left our mobile number and email and our credit card was charged in full!

WARNING
WARNING You will pay about $ 138 a night for very limited wifi, no TV, and NO HOT WATER. Not even warm water! I complained repeatedly, and finally just gave up! You should stay at one of the nearby guest houses (with hot water) for about $50 a night.

Basic but naturally beautiful
Staff are friendly and willing to please. We are vegetarians and the restaurant staff were happy to cook special meals for us. The original cottages that were booked were far apart and the staff helped to change the cottages so our family could be close together. Its nice when staff can customize to make a happy vacation.
