Charming Lobby, Dated Rooms
The lobby is really nice, decorated in Baroque fashion and has an old world class. One young man of the staff was really nice and helpful, but the older staff there were grumpy. The rooms are outdated and there were cobwebs on the lamps. The shower had really good pressure, though, and they did offer a kettle and mini bar. I kind of felt like I was in National Lampoons European Vacation, but without the shared bathroom! I did not see their balcony, only open for breakfast, as I skipped breakfast. The hotel is in a REALLY good location, though.

Comfort and a feeling of home
I stay at the Hotel Sistina when I am in Roma. The staff is excellent and the rooms are comfortable and clean. It is very, very near the Spanish Steps and the elegant shopping area near the Steps.

Slightly grand, slightly faded, excellent location
This is a hotel that needs some refurbishment but it has excellent, professional front desk staff and a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The location is towards the bottom of Via Sistina, so it is perfect for sightseeing. I did not try the free breakfast. Wifi is free. My room was in Regency style - striped wallpaper, good quality reproduction wooden furniture and the bathroom was marble with mosaic tiles and a mirror extending for half the wall, so the lighting was excellent. Slippers and toiletries provided. The hairdryer was okay. The shower was hot and the cubicle enclosed so the floor does not get wet. Safe, kettle and fridge in room. The hotel was full but generally quiet. The down points are some might find the need for refurbishment an issue - the wallpaper in my room was torn in one area and worn. I didn't not mind this so much because of the plus points - and Rome is full of faded grandeur, which I like. I have stayed here twice in different rooms and my main issue this time was hearing people very clearly in the next room. I would stay here again, however - I like the hotel's style, the location is fantastic and the rooms I have stayed in have been clean and very comfortable. There is also an excellent trattoria next door, La Botte Antica, which serves excellent food and has a lively atmosphere.

Felt like I was in a traditional Roman hotel. It was perfect location to walk to almost any popular site. The Spanish steps are up the street and trevi fountain is about a minute walk away. The hotel staff is very helpful in recommending or calling restaurants for dinner reservations as well. I will say that I was worried about pickpocketers in Rome, and going to tourist trap restaurants. Pickpocketers were no issue BUT, taxis robbed you blind. They would trick you in saying you only gave them a 5 instead of a 20 or 10 instead of a 50. You need to watch how much they are tracking you trip on the meter as well.

As soon as I came to check in I was greeted by a member of staff (can’t remember his name) but he is Egyptian I believe. He was absolutely lovely and offered to provide me with any help and it felt very genuine so made a difference immediately! The hotel is very central it is very nice. However it seems to be an old hotel so the rooms are a bit outdated with the decorations but regardless, everything worked fine. The balcony is nice to sit in and chill as I never saw anyone up there! Only negative is the breakfast which I found not good at all. It was very very limited and i get that it is a continential breakfast however it wasn’t very appetising. There aren’t much options to choose from so I was eating bread and butter and a very sweet crossaint before going to get actual breakfast. I think if that improves it would be perfect Overall a lovely hotel with an outstanding member of staff and in a great location right next to the Spanish steps.

I like the help from staff also the breakfast , but the thing that got me surprised is that I had to pay local taxes for every night of my staying at the hotel .... when I booked they never said about local taxes I thought it was everything included ....

Not a bad stop
If you do not care much about a hotel and want to park for the night, this is a decent stay. Staff are nice and friendly. Breakfast is bad.

Excellent Location, not a 4 star, bad breakfast
Hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to all major attractions. Room is a bit ourdated and breakfast was terrible! Staff is great and very accomodating. Would recommend for location but not for quality.

Close to all tourism sights
The hotel was very well situated to go to all the main tourism sights, whether you walk, go on the bus or the metro. If going to the Vatican he is usually there on a Wednesday about 11.00am and Sunday 12.00 noon. It is always best to check with the receptionist at the hotel to see if he is there. If going to the Vatican it is best to go about 2.00pm, because the crowds have died down by then

Clean hotel, good location
Nice and clean hotel. Good location for touring. 20 -25 minute walk to Colosseum and about 25 minute walk to Vatican City. The only thing is the streets in Rome are not very indicated. Most streets do not have a name on corner of buildings. Recommend to use GPS on cell phone to get around.

Hotel Sistina offered excellent value for money and I would stay there again. I was contacted in advance to ask if I required a car from the airport which I appreciated and they arranged. My single room for five nights was small but adequate, and tea making facilities were provided. Soundproofing not good to room next door. The bathroom was excellent. Breakfast was varied and served in a pleasant environment. In this part of Rome there will always be noise at night but my room looked out over a side street and so was quieter than the rooms on the front. Excellent location close to Spanish Steps and Barberini, the latter with Metro and bus access and eating places. Being on the Villa Sistina, a main pedestrian thoroughfare, one feels secure walking back alone when dark.

Very comfortable and central
I love this hotel, from its slightly formal, old fashioned air to the charming staff and excellent location on the via Sistina, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have encountered in a hotel, with pristine sheets and bed cover. The room was warm (the weather was changeable) and it was utterly quiet and peaceful. There is a lovely roof terrace overlooking via Sistina. The staff are well-trained and discreet, but very helpful. I did not try the free breakfast, but the fact breakfast is provided is a bonus. My room could have done with some minor refurbishment and the plug on the kettle did not fit the actual socket as the prongs were too large. But there is tea and coffee in the room, plus a fridge, a safe and a hairdryer in the bathroom. The room was characterful and spacious, with a carpeted floor and a beamed ceiling, which made it cosy. I would stay there again without a doubt.

Nice hotel close to almost everything
Small hotel in the center of Rome, close to almost everything. Bedroom too small and a strong odor coming from the bathroom, in spite the windows were open (I advised the reception). Noticed a roach on the first floor. Breakfast area too small but the variety of food is very nice. Price per night: OK. Walking distance from the Central Station in Rome (Roma Termini). I would rate this hotel as FAIR.

Greetings at front desk needs improvement. We asked for creamer in the room for coffee like other restaurants have the guy looked up and said no such thing you can get milk from breakfast area. Told him fridge in room not working he said that's how it is. No courtesy on arrival or on departing what a miserable bunch at the reception. Rest of staff was ok

Bed Bugs! A/C Nonexistent! Filthy Carpets!
I stayed at the Hotel Sistina for 3 nights, from June 30 to July 3. It was terrible! This hotel is definitely not a 4-star. In my opinion, it was a 1-star. They have bed bugs, of which I saw 3-4 on the bed, and 3-4 on the walls. The A/C was practically nonexistent. I spoke to other guests who also did not have A/C. Lastly, the carpets were filthy, and looked like they had not been shampooed in months. I felt sick just putting my suitcase on the carpet, knowing that there were bed bugs all around, but I had no choice, because the room was small and cramped, and there was no other place to place my luggage. THIS IS A 1-STAR HOTEL!!! (see photos attached of bed bugs!)

Fantastic short break
Fantastic short break. Location of hotel excellent near to facilities. Very close to Spanish Steps. Hotel staff very helpful - only suggestion would be perhaps a bar where you could sit and have a drink and unwind. Taxi drivers were really great and gave good local information. Will be returning.

Nice hotel, close to attractions and the metro
We were initially put in 2 single rooms even though we had booked and paid for a double room and my daughter was under 18 yrs of age and I was not comfortable with that. After 5 minutes of considering it, I went back down and told them I really wasn't comfortable with my underage daughter in a room on her own and either to give us what we had requested and paid for, or please refund our money so we could find alternative accommodation. The staff was happy to change us back to our original booking, but said they would have to move someone else. The staff were also very helpful with advice on what to do and where to go and cheapest airport transfers. The double room was really nice and comfortable, but the single not so much. Having said that, my daughter and I always stay in a double room so I can't it compare to other hotels.

Excellent location
Hotel staff were very helpful with all of our questions, and front desk staff all spoke English well. Wifi was fast and free! Room was spacious, we had three single beds and plenty of room to move. Large bathroom with a bath.

A very sweet hotel in an excellent location 5 mins
It's an old fashioned small hotel but perfect for centre of Rome. Most of the staff were absolutely lovely. Continental breakfast had all basics so was perfect. Very good value for money. I would stay there again anytime.

Nice find
This hotel is located close to the Spanish Steps and the Barberini metro station. It is surrounded by small shops and restaurants. The location is perfect. The hotel is warm and personal and comfortable.

Fun and great location
Located near the top of the Spainish steps, and the subway and taxis at the Barberini Square this fun and wellcoming place is a great destination, and wonderful place to stay
