"Wonderful staff, excellent breakfast! Great location but no parking because it’s an old historic building. Room was spacious with a huge clawfoot bath and walk-in shower. Room was not warm enough for us (winter) but the fan heater helped. We enjoyed the stay"

"Room was spacious, lovely freestanding bath, large shower room, comfy bed but would have liked feather pillow choice. Room clean but dust in places especially breakfast room fireplace and not open on a sunday evening. Had pancakes for breakfast 1st morning, beautiful crepes & hot runny syrup, ordered the 2nd day and got thick undercooked American pancakes with thick syrup, left unimpressed. "

"Awful mattress with a big dip in the middle, noisy if you are facing the railway track, its in the middle of nowhere. "

"The staff were friendly, the breakfast and bar were good, and the room was lovely cute. However, the WiFi signal was very weak."

"Not great for the money, spend another 20 quid and get a better room somewhere else. 1 towel No shampoo or soap and no heat as it was shut off. Breakfast was a few biscuits, a wrapped croissant and a couple of boxes of cereal, meh at best. "

"Easy check in, suitable room. WiFi didn't work, TV and remote didn't work, radiators needed bleeding and were very noisy"

"Wonderful location near Saffron Walden and beautiful Audley End House and Gardens. So much nicer than staying in one hotel room. Pub is right next door with delicious food. We didn’t use the nearby train but you could take it to London or Cambridge for the day. "

"Excellent location for visiting IWM Duxford and only 10 minutes on the train to Cambridge. Janet and Simon couldn't have been more welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfasts were really good with options for all tastes. Would stay again without hesitation."
