Canterbury International Hotel

4/10 Poor

"Pro: The mattress and bed linens were quite nice and very comfortable. I intentionally selected a hotel with a restaurant and bar because I knew I would be exhausted and would just want to sit for an easy dinner.... nope... restaurant isn't opened on Sundays. No mention of this before or after booking. They sent a message (after booking) that a number of hotel features were not available, like pool, etc. but no mention of the restaurant/bar being closed. The pool and gym or something said "closed for renos", ours been like that for a long time with no evidence of renos underway. It's always something with this place. Bathroom was moldy with black and pink mold. Holes and tears in carpet. Heaps of stuff just overdue for replacement. Ok if you just need a place to sleep. Regardless, it's certainly not worth the price point. Coffee at breakkie the worst cuppa I've ever had."

"This mostly went very well. The room was lovely complete with an outside area (with a table and chairs). The bathroom was 'traditional' - it even included a bidet (no I didn't use it). The room was mostly lit by 'lamps' which all worked from the one switch which was very useful. The only let down was that the TV for some reason was only 'standard definition' which meant it only allowed you to watch the ABC, SBS & Channel 9. Very unusual it's safe to say."

" Location was the only Plus !! We booked at this estate because it was offering Morning breakfast. It also showed a restaurant which offered Lunch and Dinner!! It was a total disappointment! When we contacted for the breakfast, the guy told us he will keep it outside our door. We expected breakfast that was already made but what we got was the ingredients to make breakfast! On top of that, he sent us raw bacon and we don't eat Bacon or Beef!! Next day, he sent us a box of eggs. There were cockroaches, cobwebs, dirty carpets. Totally unhygienic for kids. Both the kids got sick there! He told us on the checkin day that there was no Internet since more than a week! On the last day, the guy didn't take our call at all! Not called back. We tried 2 times, but no luck. There were no bin bags to put rubbish in. The stay was a disaste. We had to spent most of our time outside. The property is beautiful and they are not managing it !! I Don't recommend!! I am writing this review just after checking out!!"
