We have stayed at the Novotel in Solo several times and have always been happy with their service. There is a great little restaurant across the street—Alamama. It has western and Indonesian options. The restaurant at the hotel is always very good too.

Comfy stay in Solo
Very nice stay in Solo. All staff had been very helpful and courteous. Room and all facilities were clean. What needs to be improved is the bathroom: hand-held shower head and rain shower head badly need to be replaced.

Shabby and old
The location, The Service, The breakfast are All ok but The hotel Looks so shabby, need renovation. The chairs in the Resto are not comfortable anymore to be seated. My room I used looked shabby and old and a bit dirty bathroom. I was sorry to stay here compared with my previous stay years ago.

Not the best if you are a light sleeper...
I had a 2-night reservation at the Novotel and decided to leave after the first night even though I would lose some money. The air conditioning compressor was so loud it made sleeping very difficult. The room key didn't work and I went to the front desk several times for new keys to be used. The condition of the hotel is adequate but not up to the images used for marketing purposes. Price-wise the hotel is fine for what they are offering but I was able to get a superior hotel for Friday night and so I decided to vacate my room and move to another property to get a quiet sleep for my last night in town.

Cozy in Solo
The place was great, gives you a great feel of Solo. Food was above average. Staff are very nice and very helpful. One incident that's a bit of a turnoff. Coming back from my hotel room after a day's work, I saw my room door open. Nothing's missing and probably someone just forgot to properly shut it after room cleaning, so I didn't bother complaining. Quite alarming at that time though.

A good choice in Solo
This is every thing you would expect a Novotel to be - clean, comfortable, and well-appointed with no surprises - good or bad. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked, and the TV offered several English-language stations with choice of movies as well as news. Wi-fi was OK if a but slow. We stayed on the Executive Floor, which gave us a nice view (higher floor) as well as access to the Executive Lounge for a modest increase in price. The in-house restaurant was OK but not great. The the spa offers an excellent massage for a very reasonable price. It is also right across the street from the Batik museum, which is worth a visit.

Well located, functional, great staff.
The hotel was busy due to the long weekend, but the staff make any stay enjoyable with their can-do attitude and friendly Javanese style. Taxis and rickshaws are available outside, but the property is well located for those who may like to explore the city on foot. "Car Free Day" on Sunday is a good opportunity to mingle with the local people, as everyone is out and about between 6:00 and 9:00am.

Great business stay at the Novotel!
Great experience here while staying in Solo for work. The room was very comfortable, the staff was helpful and professional, and the location was great. I enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners, especially sitting on the patio for a much-needed moment of relaxation at the end of the day. Airport dropoff for 25,000 IRD is definitely a plus. Only wish they'd been able to provide stamps for international mail, but that's a tiny detail. I'd definitely stay here again!

The hotel is getting too old, the carpet on the floor is dirty and worn out (still not smell tough). Hotel's towel looks dirty and not white anymore.

Good hotel in good location.
The only reason I did not give it 5/5 was the dining facilities. They moved the restaurant to the ball room because of renovation. As it was Ramadan, we opted for pre-dawn supper (sahur) instead of breakfast. The first night, we arrived at 04:00, the food was mostly gone. The second day, we arrived at 03:00, which coincided with World Cup Final, the food was not ready. We needed to wait until 04:00 for the buffet to be completely spread.

Clean and comfortable place to stay.
The hotel has been renovated and the rooms are very clean with free WiFi. I enjoyed the stay and a dinner at the hotel restaurant. FYI, I requested a room with a king bed, but I got 2 twin beds instead. The hotel has a strange rule that does not let you stay in the king bed room, if you are staying more than one night. Did not bother me after all.

The room was definitely showing its age - floor was chipped, bath had rust marks etc. Bathroom things(soap etc) only supplied after asking. Staff friendly but English level not high.

The Novotel in Solo is handy for most tourist sites but don't expect them to be similar to Jogja. And be aware that most businesses are closed on Sundays

nearly every thing we asked for was not possible and/or it took them very long to organize it. the ac im room couldn't be regulated. one swimming pool was closed, the second closed at 7 p.m. only one pc place in front of reception.
