Although the staff were reasonably nice, the building is beautiful, and the room had heating, we experienced several disappointing things. We are not going back. The location: The neighborhood was very loud (this was a Friday night), and it is not particularly easy to reach the port. Taxis had to go pretty far out of the way, and if traffic was bad, really far out of the way, to get there. One taxi ride to the port cost me 15 MDH, but the return was just 5. Taxi: And speaking of getting to the port, we asked the hotel to call a taxi for us (three of us, with just one suitcase) at 7 am. They called a grand taxi, which charged us 40 MDH for that same 5 dirham ride. Perhaps I should have thought of that beforehand, but anyway their judgement was very poor, and I wish they had at least given me the information. But they didn't, which tells me they do this regularly. As in so many places in this country, we were just another set of walking euros. Food: We ate at the hotel's restaurant, which was truly disappointing. The "soupe de légumes" was bland, and the "vegetarian" tagine had clearly been cooked in lamb. Blech. 30 euros, all together — by far our most expensive meal in the country — and we couldn't stomach the main course. As I said, we'll not be going back, thank you.

The room was clean and nice. Great location. Little bit smaller shower. And quite pricey for what you get. But overall it was good.

The hotel is located near the entrance of Medina. Great location if you want to explore the market. Close to the taxi station. The bathrooms need serious cleaning. You could see the muld on the walls. One of the receptionist was rude to us. We asked him to call for a taxi when we left. He did call and told the taxi driver to ask for more money then that ride should cost, the receptionist thinking that we did not understand him.

Friendly, Clean and Convenient
Lovely clean hotel in excellent location. A 15 minute taxi ride from the port at Tarifa, and within walking distance of the Medina & Kasbah. Friendly helpful staff. We had a super evening meal on the terrace at the hotel, and a very good breakfast the following morning. I would highly recommend the hotel.

Pleasant stay
I felt good in this hotel and my room. The staff from reception was more than nice and helpful and we received good information for anything that we asked. Though I booked a single room for 3 nights and a double room for the last, I was given a double room with the price of single room for which I'm very grateful. The breakfast was good and varied. The only small issue I have to mention is that the air conditioner did not blow warm air (even after an hour). A friend of mine who stayed in another room didn't have this problem so I could have asked for another room but since it wasn't so cold in the night I didn't need that.

Great Place to Stay
Great location. It's near the ferry (20 minute walk up a steep road into the medina). Just go to the main medina entrance, walk straight up to the first main circle, then turn right onto Italia Street. It's one minute from the main circle but so nice and quiet. Star was friendly. Room was HUGE and clean and nice.

This was our favourite place that we stayed at while in Morocco. Lovely hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, working air con and wifi (I later found this to be a rarity in other hotels/riads!) Would highly recommend if stopping off in Tangier (which is a great place).

Not ideal if looking for peace and quiet
The hotel is an older property and not as well maintained as other places that we stayed during this trip. It was also too noisy for my tastes. There was lots of street noise (motorcycles, etc) and other guests could be heard as well. As a light-sleeper, this didn't work well for me. Some might really like the location as it is in the midst of a bustling market and on a busy street. For me, though, it lacked an element of tranquility that I like on my travels.

Lovely courtyard
Given a huge room (a suite) which whilst lovely was freezing, we resorted to laying a towel at the bottom of the door. Felt very French with wooden floorboards and huge shuttered windows. Beds & linen were excellent and clean. Bit of a high step into shower which became obvious when noting the speed which the water "didn't" drain away. We heard one guest complaining of intrusive noise from neighbouring cafes during the night but we luckily didn't hear anything. We ate lunch on arrival, two massive cous cous each. Then had breakfast next morning excellent except if purporting to be typical it was missing olives. The receptionist said I was wrong but I've been visiting Morocco for over 40 years and have always been given them.

Life in the core of the medina
I stayed for several days. I had work to do and also needed some rest. The hotel has a sitting room with a small library, which I used, a TV and DVD player (neither of which I used). The food was good and the patio very pleasant. Being located in the center of the median, in a safe street, close to good restaurants, gives you an idea of real Moroccan life, and the sound of the country. Children of the nearby school play and talk, many couples with children buy food and sweets in clean and trustworthy shops, plenty of fruits are sold everywhere (just be careful and wash them well before eating), as well as clothes, shoes and almost everything.

Rude staff, uncomfortable room
Staff put us on the third floor and then three of them (all men) watched as we (two women) struggled to carry to large suitcases up the stairs. No one ever offered to help. The room was small and musty. There was no hot water or hairdryer, and the noise outside made it difficult to get to sleep.

Wonderful Staff!
The Dar El Kasbah is a short walk to the medina of the old city. It's rooms are spacious (and plentiful), the beds are comfortable and the showers hot. After a particularly sketchy incident with a taxi service, the staff of this hotel went out of their way to make us (two female travelers) feel comfortable and safe - we simply cannot thank them enough. I would recommend this hotel without reservation to anyone visiting Fes.

Spot on!
Dal El Kasbah has the best of everything. First of all, this is definitely not another stale chain hotel. Instead, it's a charming little ryad situated on the edge of the bustling medina and also, just a short two minute walk from the historic Kasbah. Despite it's proximity to the heart and soul of Tanger, it maintains a feel of being it's own little oasis. From check in to the very second you leave, the incredibly friendly staff is right on top of every need you may have. The welcoming and friendly culture in Morocco speaks loudly, but the staff here is honestly a step above. The rooms were spotless and tidy, the garden are comfortable and cozy and the food and associated service simply wonderful. You must have the breakfast! And speaking of the garden, despite the hustle and bustle of the world just outside it's walls, it's the perfect place to relax, read a book and sip a glass of mint tea. If you want to feel like you are truly in Morocco and staying with family instead of being "just another guest", this is truly a great spot.

Great Hotel
My wife and I have traveled all over Europe and have not found a better hotel staff than the staff we found here. This hotel is conveniently located with all the must see spots within easy walking distance. I also highly recommend paying for breakfast here. For 4 or 5 euros you will get a LOT of good food. We highly recommend this hotel and we will differently stay here again.

Short stay
-- heater took over hour to warm up room -- no elevator -- I got a price from a taxi driver to get to a meeting, but I thought I ask the hotel manager because he was telling me how he's one of the good guys and looks out for tourists. Unfortunately, the manager jacked up the price of a taxi by 100 dirhams. Not cool. Got a taxi on my own and checked out while I still had my wallet.

Perfect location
Tangier is well worth a visit. It is relatively compact and is therefore easy to walk around and take in most sights. The hotel Dar El Kasbah is in a perfect location to make it easy to find and it is only a few minutes from the main square Grand Socco and an entrance to the medina. There is also a lovely courtyard that is perfect for the great breakfast they serve. Only note of caution about Tangier is that we were bombarded at the ferry port for offers of a guide - they are very difficult to shake off!

Two nights in Tangier
We were in room #17 (floor 3 and no elevator) and it is quite small. Room enough for a double bed, chest and dresser. One nightstand. Little room to move around. Bathroom in suite, small and spotless. Having said that, the room and hotel were very clean, and there was a nice salon a floor down to read or be on my computer. Good (free) WiFi both in the room and the salon. Beautiful building and lovely staircase. If is virtually in the medina, so a great location if that's why you're there. The staff was nice, and very friendly.

Great place moderately priced!
This was a really nice hotel for what you pay. Our room was large with two twins a sitting area and a large two room bathroom. The windows looked out to the rooftops and street below. The hotel is very close to everything about 10-15 minute walk. the staff is extremely nice. If you use all the hot water (which runs out in about 10 min) you need to wait a little. My sister took advantage of the nice priced taxi to the airport. I was able to walk the two miles to the train station. This hotel is on the other side of the wall to the medina. It's a few minutes to the closest gate. The hotel has parking in a courtyard.
