Maya Sanur Resort & Spa

"Maya Sanur is a beautiful hotel in a lovely beachfront setting. The location was one of the biggest positives for us, with direct access to the beach and boardwalk, making it really easy to walk along the seafront and explore Sanur. Our room was spacious, modern and comfortable, and we particularly liked having his-and-hers sinks in the bathroom. We were also conveniently located within the hotel, which made getting around very easy. We arrived at around 1pm and completely understood that check-in wasn’t until 3pm. We were told we would receive a message when the room was ready, although this didn’t arrive until around 3:15pm, so it felt slightly pointless. Our key card also didn’t work on the first attempt, but this was quickly sorted. A couple of minor negatives were the noticeable whining noise from the LED mirrors in the bathroom and the lack of air conditioning in the open-plan communal areas. One thing we really appreciated was the service on our final day. After checking out, we were able to leave our luggage and return later to use the spa facilities to shower and change before our evening flight home. Overall, a very enjoyable stay in a beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and an excellent beachfront location."

"Awesome staff and amazing resort. Everything gave 5 stars to me. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. I had room service dinner regularly and it was always good and presented so beautifully. Tea time was enjoyable also. Various tea and coffee options with little cakes and snacks. Carts to transport you around the resort. Just lovely. Isolated from central ubud. As a solo traveler I would say the resort is more enjoyable for couples unless you are going to cut off from the world."

"Stayed here for 5 nights and I’m amazed at how beautiful this hotel is!! The staff were absolutely amazing and super welcoming and helpful!! Location is great, had no issues getting to my destinations around Ubud. The breakfast was amazing and so fresh unlike any other hotel I have been to. I would definitely come back here and once again thank you so much to the incredible staff!!"

"Location is within walking distance to the beach and restaurants and coffee shops Not my favorite spot. Crowded and was a good stop for one night. We thought the beach was close but it took awhile to walk to it. They do have a golf cart that can take you to the beach. I rather stay some place next time closer to the beach. I felt boxed in by the hotel. It is a good value for the room."

"This was our first time in Bali and Ubud, and Alaya was a great base for exploring. The location is very central, with lots of restaurants, cafés, shops and spas within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is clean, modern and set in beautiful, lush surroundings. It also isn’t a huge resort, which we liked, as it was quick and easy to get back to the room or head out again. The air conditioning in our room was strong and worked really well. The staff were consistently friendly, and the traffic manager at the front was particularly helpful with crossing the busy road and helping taxis get in and out. There were a few things that stopped it feeling truly five-star for us. Check-in was quite lengthy after a long day of travelling, and there was some early-morning noise from sweeping outside the room and the shower/plumbing. Housekeeping also came at around 8am on our first morning. We hadn’t put the bamboo privacy sign out, which was our oversight, but having only checked in the night before, a slightly later visit would have been appreciated. Breakfast was included and was okay, but portions were small and some basics, such as sugar for tea and coffee, were missing. There are lots of excellent cafés nearby, which we preferred. The gym is very small and limited, so we chose to train elsewhere in Ubud, which was easy to do. We didn’t use the pool or spa, so can’t comment on those. Overall, a beautiful, well-located hotel with lovely staff, but not quite five-star by Weste"
