"Singapore, Singapore 112 Our peaceful haven above the Ubud crowds Review of Maya Ubud Resort & Spa Reviewed 1 week ago I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Maya Ubud in August 2026. The hotel grounds are stunning — extensive, beautifully maintained, and nestled deep in nature. It's a joy to relax by the pool while taking in the steep, tree-covered cliffs that plunge into the river gorge below. The breezes are wonderfully cool and fresh, never chilly, thanks to the warm sun. Service was impeccable — attentive, kind, and genuinely enthusiastic. All the staff were wonderful, especially Sumi and Dewi, who went above and beyond. The Mat Pilates class was excellent too. Ubud itself was quite crowded during our visit, which made us appreciate the hotel's own offerings even more — two pools, three restaurants (the Western food was particularly good), and cultural dance performances every single night. We left feeling completely refreshed."

"Front desk, staff and manager, we’re very helpful in managing and finding a solution to an issue I had and for that I am grateful. The property was gorgeous beautifully and tastefully decorated. However, you are near the monkey forest so they will be around the hotel, but they do not bother anyone unless you have eye contact with them which is not good so just keep walking. Great area as well lots of food to eat and things to do like the swing and zip line. They also have a restaurant and a bakery on premises, which is also very good. Thank you for everything."

"The room was super clean. It has all of the amenities such as toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton buds etc, so you do not have to ask for anything. You get two water bottles daily, theres tea/coffee sachets in the room. They have a water dispenser in the corridor so you can refill your bottles. It really had everything you need. On arrival you have a welcome drink and sweet. The service was good. They have a gym, spa and pool. The area has affordable massage places, restaurants and shops. Overall, highly recommend if you are staying in Ubud."

"Not a big of a deal but water leaked from the shower room into the toilet area. It would be helpful if there are more towels placed in the room. I requested to leave extra towels in the room for the second night, but they didn't. It worked out ok. All the hotel staffs are nice and friendly. They are very helpful. The hotel gave us such a warm hospitality. I would stay there again."

Find out more about Ubud

About Ubud, Bali

Those with an interest in Balinese culture and arts should not miss out on visiting Ubud when staying on Bali. This quaint little town is surrounded by lovely landscapes with forests and rice terraces. It is home to a palace, royal tombs, and ancient temples. Ubud is also heaven for shoppers and it has a fabulous collection of artisans’ workshops.

Don’t Miss

In town, Puri Saren Agung is a royal palace open to the public with pagodas, towers, ponds, and plants arranged around a courtyard. This is the best venue in town to enjoy a traditional dance performance. The Puri Lukisan Museum is nearby and offers an interesting collection of modern Balinese art. Among other facilities are Blanco Renaissance Museum and the House of Masks and Puppets.

Goa Gajah is five kilometres east of Ubud and an easy trip with a rented bicycle. One thousand year-old rock carvings guard the main cave and evil’s image guards the entrance. Lots of old statues and rice fields are also attractions here. A little farther away, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary features three temples including the Great Temple of Death, tribes of long-tailed monkeys, and a deer enclosure.

Restaurants and Bars

Ubud is a popular destination for tourism in Bali. This has led to the opening of many restaurants. These are often housed in traditional warung shacks. Diners can experiment with dishes such as babi guling suckling pig and blood sausage or stick with the old favourites of nasi campur, pizza, and pasta. A 22:30 curfew on loud bands and music means most visitors go to bed early. There are several bars to choose from, but they are designed for chilling out and relaxing.

Shopping

Shopping in Ubud is a pleasure. People will find they are spoilt for choice with hand-crafted articles ranging from silk handkerchiefs and scarves to elaborate gold and silver jewellery. Shirts, shorts, skirts, and sarongs made from batik and cotton are cheap. Bags, baskets, wooden statues, paintings, and sleek kites are among other products available. There are lots of small shops and boutiques, but Seni Ubud Market is centrally-located and has a big selection in one place.
