About Legian

Bali is a famous beach holiday destination, and no place on the island is more inviting than Legian. Located just north of Bali’s most chaotic tourist hotspot, Kuta, the beachfront town of Legian is far more relaxed. Nevertheless, visitors can still find plenty of nightlife, shopping, restaurants and fun-filled things to do while holidaying here. The most popular part of the area is Jalan Padma.

Don’t Miss

Legian’s beach is not as long as that in nearby Kuta, but it is certainly welcoming. The golden sands are in place every morning, so visitors can spend the entire day lazing upon the soft beach under the sun. Surf boards and boogie boards are available for hire, and with the waves of Legian relatively small, the surf is very safe for beginners. As the sun begins to set, more and more people begin to flock to the beach as it is one of the best sunset viewing points in Bali.

Like other beachfront towns on Bali, Legian is a great place to get pampered. Manicures, pedicures and cheap massages are available even on the beach. However, there are plenty of businesses operating along the nearby streets. Massage parlours, fish spas and regular therapeutic spa treatment services are available in Legian.

Restaurants and Bars

The best places to eat in Legian are along the beachfront. There are numerous cafés and restaurants operating here, which not only give guests a delightful meal, but a fabulous sunset too. Of course, like in other beach towns of Bali, there are local dishes that visitors simply must try. Bakso is a popular meatball and noodle soup, while nasi goreng and mee goreng are very ubiquitous and cheap street-vendor dishes also. The bars and clubs in Legian are quite subdued compared to Kuta. Many great after-hours establishments are located along the main roads, including on Jalan Legian.

Shopping

There is a range of shops in Legian, especially in the main shopping area along Jalan Melasti, Jalan Padma and Jalan Arjuna. Beautiful bead and shell products are common in Jalan Padma, while Jalan Legian is home to more upmarket merchandise. Surf wear shops are very popular here, with plenty located along the main streets.
