Just a clean and well cared for hotel with tasteful decorum. Room was neat and bed was comfortable. Staff spoke English well and were very courteous. Location was perfect. Near to Praca de Republica (puble square) and city park.

The hotel was very nice, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and lots of storage space, as well as a private patio with a small table and 2 chairs. The only issue we had with the room is that it was pretty dark, even with the curtains open, and somewhat dated. The bathtub drain was a little slow and the shower head wouldn't stay in position. Otherwise a very nice, clean and spacious bathroom with nice towels. The breakfast buffet was terrific, fresh and delicious with lots of items to choose from. It was close walking distance to see many of the historic sites in Viseu. Parking in front of the hotel is awkward, as the lower gate is an emergency exit, so one has to reverse uphill and turn around in a narrow driveway to exit. Otherwise we did appreciate the onsite parking. We appreciate the dog-friendliness of this lovely hotel.

Well Maintained Hotel Near City Center
Hotel Grao Vasco is truly a historic hotel. Pedro from sales gave a very friendly guided tour of the property and spoke with us about the wonderful past that Hotel Grao Vasco has. This is stylish sixties but maintained beautifully and still run by the family that built the hotel. Go to Viseu and enjoy! The hotel had comfortable beds, it is centrally located near the old city center and the staff was very welcoming. Pedro in particular was kind, helpful and proud of the hotel. It was refreshing to see a person who has the kind of hospitality everyone expects but rarely sees. Obrigado!

Hotel is showing its age. decor very much stuck in the past. Hotel staff could have been friendlier, internet connectivity was really poor. However, central location is a plus.

Tricky to find entrance but a lovely cool hotel, reception polite . The up grade to the room was worth it, with balcony overlooking gardens. Breakfast well thought out at this time of Covid , would stay again

Worst experience in portugal
Breakfast service was slow no customer service Refusal to do fried eggs I either had to take liquid scramble eggs if I wanted breakfast or nothing. Horrible And limited breakfast choices First time in a 4 star hotel that they were not able to accommodate an egg order. Also we arrived at 1035 at the hotel and asked if the bar was open to which front reception said yes. We walked over to the bar and employee told us at 1047 pm that no one was here so I closed the bar so no service.

Classic older style hotel
A great hotel just a block from the historic centre. Thoughtful groupings of comfortable, quiet seating areas around the hotel including attractive lounges. Welcoming, efficient staff; large, comfortable rooms overlooking lawns and palm trees. Elegant dining room in which we were the only guests (Sunday evening in Feb.) where we were served the best salmon dinner we have ever eaten. All served by the perfect waiter in a friendly, informative manner. A gem of a hotel in a modestly interesting old city.

GREAT LOCATION, FREE PARKING
THE HOTEL HAS OLD WORLD CHARM ALTHOUGH A LITTLE WORN IN PLACES. THE SAFE KEY IN OUR ROOM HAD BEEN TAKEN BY A PREVIOUS GUEST. THE SOLUTION WAS TO MOVE OUR ROOM! ACCORDING TO THE STAFF THERE ARE FEW WORKING SAFES.NO IRON WAS AVAILABLE ONLY EXTERNAL LAUNDRY WAS POSSIBLE. THE DINING ROOM STAFF WERE UNHELPFUL AND MORE INTERESTED IN SETTING UP FOR LUNCH.

The hotel is in the heart of Viseu, at walking distance most points of interest. Clean, well-appointed room, tasty breakfast with plenty of choices, courteous and efficient personnel. Although the hotel is in the middle of the historical center, it has a parking lot and the parking fees are included in the price, a rare feat in European hotels conveniently located in the historical districts. I did not use the spa, but the outdoor pool is beautiful. I found this hotel an incredible value for the money. Recommended without hesitation.

We did not do any sightseeing in Viseu (it was a just a place to stop & sleep) so I cannot comment on the convenience of location. No food is available at the hotel during the siesta hours (typical of many hotels on the Iberian Peninsula) but the hotel manager was able to direct us to a place (within walking distance of the hotel) where they were willing to feed us. Limited English spoken by those we had contact with in Viseu but all were willing to assist as as best they could.

Hotel staff was very friendly and polite. Room cleaning staff did an awesome job. Hotel is an older building that does need some upgrade but overall it's well maintained. There was a variety of items to pick for breakfast . Everything was always fresh and plentiful. Hotel location was perfect and walking distance to everything in centre of city. Rossio well known in the city of Viseu with its gorgeous water fountains and flower garden and an awesome area to sit and relax or walk around te garden . Then you can go enjoy a coffee or drink or eat something in the rossio coffee shop 2 min walk from hotel. Overall I enjoyed my stay at Grão Vasco Hotel and I will return in the near future.

A good hotel in the centre of the city
While the hotel is approaching 'vintage' status, it is recently renovated and in an excellent location. The staff are courteous. There is ample parking in the hotel grounds and we were allowed, at no charge, to leave the car until early evening of the day we departed. On the other side of the hotel to the parking, there is a pleasant garden, onto which our room opened - very nice! The rooms are of standard hotel size, clean and well furnished, with good beds and amenities. As it is an older building, there is some noise from the hall. We were a little disconcerted that the hotel restaurant was able to offer only a buffet dinner, on Sunday evening; so, instead, we ate at one of the restaurants, within a close distance of the hotel. Breakfast in the hotel, the next morning, was good, with a full range of seasonal fresh fruit, breads, cereals, meats, scrambled eggs and pastries. We recommend the hotel, without reservation.
