Great views of Wakayama castle
Nice, clean and comfy hotel with great views of Wakayamojo from the room. Good but not great breakfast - fresh bakery would have been nice. Overall still a great option.

Wonderful place to stay in Wakayama
The hotel's location is great and the view from our room towards the Wakayama castle was beautiful!

Room is huge by local standards. Parking lot is just across the street with in-/out- privileges. One significant drawback is there are only two elevators. Wait time could be quite long in the morning and late evening.

This was a great location, not too far from the JR Wakayama station, which is a convenient jump off spot to areas in Wakayama. Great view of the Wakayama Castle. Bed is not the most comfortable though.

Good hotel near the castle
The hotel is very close to the Wakayama Castle. I booked a room with castle view. It was beautiful. The hotel doesn’t offer car parking facilities but there’s a huge multi storey car park opposite to the hotel. Hotel guests can park their cars there at a discount.

We had an absolute unpleasant stay at this hotel. The staff was rude during check in, room was filthy which we found snack leftovers on the carpet; hair and soap left in the bathtub. The hotel design was very old and outdated, smell was awful with a real strong smell of cigarette. The worst thing I’ve encountered was that I requested for an additional pillow, the staff on the phone claimed that they didn’t have any pillows in this hotel and hung up right after saying that. Comparing to the other Daiwa Roynet hotels in other cities around Japan, this was awful and I would not ever recommend anyone to stay.

Nice hotel close to the castle
We booked this hotel the very last minute, all rooms were sold out except a small smoking room. Quite a strong cigarette smell inside the room but other than that our stay is quite alright. We've got a nice view of the castle which was an absolute surprise.

Decent hotel near to the Wakayama Castle
Hotel location is not near the Wakayama Station but is just situated right opposite the Wakayama Castle. It is about 5-8 mins taxi ride to the station and cost not more than 800 Yen to travel there. Comfortable stay though pillow is a little too soft for me. Good breakfast and within walking distance to a few good restaurants.

Hotel is in a business area but very near the Wakayama Castle and surrounding parks. Both JR and Nankai train stations are not too far away by bus or taxi. Area is quiet after office hours but there are quite a number of eateries in the neighborhood.

I’m a fan of this hotel chain
Have stayed at another Daiwa Roynet once before so am familiar with this hotel chain. The Daiwa Roynet Wakayama did not disappoint. It is located above a small shopping complex ( front desk accessed via elevator to 5th floor) and across from Wakayama’s main point of interest, the castle. Would recommend a room on a higher floor with a castle view. Would also definitely recommend getting the breakfast (which is a delicious Japanese/Western buffet ) ! We are independent travelers who accessed the hotel from KIX via the airport limousine bus to JR Wakayama train station then a short taxi ride. If you are solo, the double room is fine. Would strongly recommend a 2 bed twin room for two people though, as it is a bit more spacious. ( we have stayed in both types ) This is not a luxury hotel. However it is a great for business or pleasure, very practical with everything one needs. FYI, there is a Family Mart convenience store on 1st level of the shopping complex and a great Japanese restaurant next to it.

although a little for from the wakayama jr station, close to the wakayama castle, the prefecture museums, as well as the mordern art museum (actually the later two are located in the same building), nice front desk stuff~

Nice new hotel. Booked a castle view room and the massage chair in the room was a nice (unexpected) plus! A little far away from the train station (1.8km) but walkable on a cool night. JPY700 by taxi if you have luggage. Bus stop in front of the hotel goes to the train station or Marina City. And only about a block away from Ramen Marui. Staff were really helpful with bus schedules to get around and having a 24 hour Family Mart within the building is really convenient.

Stylish hotel in the heart of Wakayama City, only minutes walk from restaurants and the famous Wakayama Castle. There's a 24 hour convenience store outside the front door which is handy. Some great ramen & Okonomiyaki restaurants nearby too, especially Wadada (Kaya) and Koutarou Ramen. We traveled as a family of 4 and the triple room was great, clean, modern and spacious enough for us.

Felt like a 5 star experience
I was pleasantly surprised with our stay. It was much nicer than I had expected and with the included breakfast buffet that had so many choices from something western to eating like a Japanese person would with local fruits and dishes. The room was comfortable and clean and with a castle view... highly recommended. There were nice restaurants in the building and we were close to many things including a bus stop to get around if taxis aren't in your budget. Wakayama city is a very different experience from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Osaka and even Kyoto. It's not a touristy place for foreigners so maybe you can have a more authentic view of Japan from here.

Great view of Wakayama Castle at night, a nice charming place which is not crowded or commercialised. Convenient family mart on level one. But aircon is weak and lobby is difficult to find.

Take 1 stop bus from JR Wakayama but easy. Nice breakfast and nice view from room! Breakfast has many choices, ramen, western and Japanese located at shopping mall, bookstore next to it. Enjoy night and day view of castle, that's the reason I stayed at this hotel. 240yen bus fare, bus stop just in front of the hotel, within 1 min walk. Room is quite nice, reasonable price, clean. There are some restaurants in the same building of the hotel. I tried one Japanese restaurant, that's fine.

Great view of Wakayama castle if on the correct side of the building. A bit confusing finding the right elevator and door to the front desk which is on 5th floor. Parking was handy in a structure next door. Good pillow selection. Nice Japanese eatery on first floor.

Best Hotel with Wakayama Castle View
I stayed on the 13th floor, Double B Room with an excellent Castle view. The room size was very large with 26m square. Recommended to try their buffet breakfast. It was delicious with various choice. Please try their Wakayama Style Noodle. I really enjoyed it. Room Tip: Double B Room always comes with great Castle View with a free massage chair

Great place to relax
Excellent staff helped me with every request. Housekeeping staff keep my room spotless and accommodated my timing. One of the desk staff even helped me to recover $40 that I had left on a local bus. Hotel location is ideal for visiting the excellent castle and beautiful surrounding gardens. I stayed here for five days and was sad to leave for an uncomfortable hotel in Osaka that cost twice as much.
