Our cancellation policy when booking through Expedia is 72 hours, and this is firm. However in cases of emergency you can send an e-mail to our front desk team, who will then forward to management for review. We don't always make exceptions, but when the emergency is severe and evidence is provided we do occasionally waive cancellation fees. I'm sorry if you felt our service wasn't customer oriented, and I'd invite you to reach out directly with any specific points that I could feedback to my team. Sorry again for the negative experience you had, I hope we are able to make it up to you at some point in the future.

Hi Cary,Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, and I'm sorry we didn't quite meet your expectations. We do have the cafeteria on-site but after 2pm the closest food options are a 10 minute walk away at Function Junction. Next time you stay you can also reach out to Front Desk who would be happy to recommend some take-out delivery options for you. Most of our accommodation consists of shared dormitories, which we accept isn't for everybody, but we do also have private room options! I hope we get the chance to welcome you back for a much better stay in future.

Hello Thomas, Thanks for your review and feedback, hopefully, another time we can achieve a higher rating. I hope you chose us based on our reviews and value-back pricing. Compared to hotels in Whistler, our Queen Private rooms are priced well-below and do compete in comfort with a few of our competitors who charge significantly more. When you add only a few of our free amenities like parking and a communal kitchen (where you can self-cater), then the value is stretched even further. We do try to be as clear as possible that we are a hostel, though, it can be challenging on third-party sites. Our name is listed as "HI Whistler - Hostel".

Thanks for the review, Monty! Yes, we do not have to air-conditioning and I'm afraid it is likely not in the cards to retrofit our building, nor would it help us reach our sustainability goals. We did investigate it a few years back and found it to be astronomical in cost - even for another for-profit business with more resources to play around with. We did install some infrastructure to increase the incoming cool, evening air throughout our building. This managed to cool our west-facing rooms by a whopping 5 degrees celsius. We still are faced with those heatwaves that can come for a few weeks each summer, so we do have fans available. Perhaps in the future, we will invest in awnings or metal blinds like they have in certain areas of Europe (e.g. Italy). Cheers!

Hello Pablo, It's unfortunate to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We aren't a hotel, we are a hostel, in fact, so we don't have the same facilities as some much more expensive hotels. Hello Jennifer, It's unfortunate to hear that we did not live up to your standards. Our pool table is open, but it was closed during previous times during this pandemic. We have been following all regulations and recommendations put out by the BC government. There was a time when our kitchen was also closed, but as it is integral to hostelling we found a way to safely re-open it. Best Regards

Hello Debora, It's unfortunate to hear that you did not get the sleep you were hoping for. Our fire alarm went off shortly after our cafe opened at 7am. They were making some fresh baked cookies and selected the wrong cook setting on the oven. I hope your time in Whistler was enjoyable regardless.

Sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We'll bring up your feedback to discuss at our next capital expense meeting regarding the mattress. Our bathroom fans are set to a constant low airflow, so they are slower but continue circulating air 24 hours a day.

Sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We do list on Expedia that we do not have air conditioning. During these tough heatwaves hitting British Columbia this summer, all we are able to do is offer fans at the moment. We are investigating other solutions, but that will take some time.

Sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. Air conditioning is pretty rare in hostel Whistler is not known for such heatwaves. Though times are changing and our organization is considering options on how to handle an increasing amount of hot summers. As a not-for-profit organization, a solution won't happen overnight, unfortunately. We'll review your feedback as a team and see how we can use it to improve our service.
