"Clean room, good food and friendly staff."

"My second stay at the Portland Hotel, Ashington and once again, they excelled. Staff could not be more friendly and welcoming (Jess and the guy behind the bar, sorry I forgot your name) looked after me very well. Room (I stayed in one of the rooms out back in the purpose built rooms) was lovely. Great to have a fridge in the room and a very comfy bed. Kept beautifully clean (Thanks housekeeping) and contained everything a traveller could want in a hotel room. Desk space, plenty of power sockets - I’m a very large bloke (six foot six inches tall) and struggled to get my legs under the desk but that’s MY problem, not the Portland Hotel. It certainly didn’t stop me working 👍 Food in the pub / restaurant was great. Good sized portions and well cooked. Speedy service too. The Portland Hotel has now become my ‘go to’ hotel whenever I’m back in the North East. Book direct for special deals! (Ask for Kaliffa or Mack) "

"Yes, was meant to be a double room though, was instead 2 single beds pushed together. Breakfast was good but a little small in portion size, but was still good. Staff were very welcoming and the young girl on the bar was very nice 😉"

"Beautifully decorated, spacious, individually designed rooms. Cosy with excellent facilities. Easy check-in. Attractive, welcoming restaurant serving exceptional food. Bar area could have been warmer, very cold in fact! However, would highly recommend from an accommodation and food perspective "
