Budget Hostels from S$60

"We booked through hotels.com for a 1 night stay. No mention is building work at all but luckily we called the hotel before and there was a recording letting us know it was going on until 5pm. We turned up at 7pm and the work was still going on, loud drilling, dust, just not acceptable. Then the next morning we woke up to no power, no hot water for showers, no hot food. We paid extra for breakfast and couldn’t have this as even the cold options were limited - understandable as no fridge etc. we had to go down the road and pay extra for breakfast. Tried to clam a refund for this through hotels.com but after multiple attempts to call them they can’t get through to the hotel to confirm this. So we incurred extra costs. Very disappointed as this was the start of our holiday before continuing further north."

"The rooms were not that clean, a lot of dirt in the bathroom that could have been cleaned easily.. a lot if dust in the room itself, was not happy at all.. we stayed one night but if needed for more i would have moved or complained.. The breakfast was nothing near good, everything was dry, not topped up or replaced and wasn’t enjoyable. Also I had to pay extra for the children breakfast, as they said my room for 4 includes only breakfast for 2 and this was the booking issue with Hotels.com but still was not convinced as we stayed at another hotels around those days also booked in the same way and had no such thing! Kids eating only a slice of bread with Nutella or hardly a half sausage .. the hotel should not make people to pay extra 13£ for that.. really disappointed "

"Room was fine. Disabled toilet was very unclean and brought to attention of staff. Also we felt it was a bit mean that we couldn't check in 50 mins before 3 but we were able to leave luggage "

"Watch out for hidden charges at check-in. £50 taken from my bank immediately on top of the room charge. If I wanted to purchase anything extra, I would have paid at the time of purchasing. Now having to wait for a refund. This was not transparent enough in the T&Cs even within the confirmation email. Lifts old and creaky despite £3m upgrade, shower tiles grubby, mini bar only stocked water and wasn’t clear if this was complimentary, broken usb port by the bedside and heating system didn’t work as only blowing out cold air (no extra blankets in the room). Not enough towels for two women to dry their hair and body without using the hand towel too. £5 service charge for room service unless you were sensible and read all the in-room gubbins and saw the discount code - just don’t charge it in the first place! Prices were also out of date on the room service menu in the room. Didn’t think much of the cheese and biscuits either as two of the cheeses lacked flavour and we got a few apple slices rather than the whole apple sliced for £13! I know this is a 4* hotel but it’s the little things that matter and these could be improved. Breakfast served until 10am but by 9:30, the hot buffet was lacking and had to be refilled multiple times: eggs congealed and some items luke warm. "

"Good for value. The room had a faulty toilet flush however, everything else met my expectations if not exceeding them. The receptionist were very helpful one in particular wearing a black hat working a night shift Saturday night - sunday morning."

"Bathroom smelled badly of sewage. Next room they moved me to had a broken safe. Safe couldn't be fixed as there were only 2 staff on duty covering breakfast, reception, and everything else. This place is seriously lacking funding to run effectively. "
