We spent 3 nights here in October and really enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable and spacious, the breakfast was great with an excellent variety of hot and cold food, and the hotel was in a good location within walking distance to everything. But most importantly, the staff were fantastic! You felt as though you were staying with family. Would highly recommend and definately stay here again!

Recommend this older style Hotel. It appears to be family owned and run.. The staff were always helpful. Free transfers from train station. Excellent indoor pool, hot tub, sauna.. Very close to train and restaurants.. Views of the Matterhorn..

I truly cannot find anything we did not love about the Metropol. Starting from the pick up service at the train, to check-in at the front, everything was top notch. We received custom sized bathrobes and slippers in our room, so our kids were excited to hit the pool. We enjoyed the steam room, sauna, hot tub, pool and vitamin water, all while staring at the grand Matterhorn. Within walking distance is the Old Town, shopping, dining, Gornergrat train, Sunnegga Funicular and so much more. We walked everywhere. Breakfast held many options including custom eggs, espresso and cappuccino,hot chocolate and again, the view of the Matterhorn everywhere we looked. We didn’t use it much, but there was a game room that would be fun in the winter after a day of skiing. The yard during the summer had places to sit, lounge chairs and that famous view! The staff were kind, funny and attentive. I felt so comfortable there and would stay there again in the future!!! Super clean, great food, lovely staff. Thank you!!

Excellent Choice!
Outstanding service from friendly staff (Thanks, Stephanie!) - including train station pickup. Breakfast had a good selection of food & drinks. Room was clean and had amenities expected. Our balcony view was amazing, perfect line of sight for the Matterhorn - and early mornings it was bright & clear. Location was convenient to main street but quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous pool, friendly staff, great location
Charming hotel with the friendliest staff in an unbeatable location next to the river and a 3 minute walk from the entrance to the Sunnegga funicular. Surprisingly beautiful pool & hot tub with Matterhorn view. Got a single room on same floor as the pool, so it was not the quietest but it was more spacious than I expected. In all, great value for money by Zermatt standards.

The hotel has an impeccable view of the matterhorn from the room balcony. Large rooms and cozy room. What more can one ask for? The pool and spa is also a definite plus. Breakfast was good, staff were friendly.

The hotel staff were friendly. The hotel has a pool and jacuzzi which can see the Matterhorn. Beautiful. The hotel location is also easy to find along the river.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Convenient location since it's a couple of minutes walking away from the train station. The entrance is a little bit inconvenient if you have wheeled lugagge since you have to go up some stairs. There was a little missunderstanding with the payment since we thought it was already covered because when you book you are supposed to cover your stay in advanced but the hotel doesn't make any charges until you are there (and no show I suppose).

Its location was easy to find, and the staff was very friendly. Our room was clean and spacious, especially, we loved its magnificent view. However, we wished we had more room for the shower.

The bed is the most uncomfortable ever! Warning to USA travelers; you will never be able to sleep at all on this old outdated super thin hard as a rock mattress. Switzerland hotels should get up to date with new and improved “normal” mattresses. It’s a beautiful country, but their mattresses are terrible and it’s not worth spending your money to sleep in Switzerland. Instead, stay in a French hotel & travel here only during the day!!!!

Wonderful hotel
This hotel is a gem. We had an amazing view of the Matterhorn from our room. The room was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Traveling with a 20 month old who couldn’t adjust to the time change was a challenge, and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. We were sad when we it was time to leave this beautiful town and perfect hotel. The breakfasts were outstanding.

家族3人旅行で3泊しました。ご厚意により2泊だけマッターホルンviewの部屋にupgradeして頂けました。バルコニー付きで正にマッターホルンが良く見えて、一日中部屋から眺めていても飽きないほどでした。ツェルマットに来てこの部屋に泊まれれば、外出する必要は無いほどでした。夕闇のマッターホルンもまた格別でした。ホテルスタッフも全員とても親切でした。ロケーションも抜群で、周囲は騒がしすぎず何をするにも便利でした。夕食もとても美味しいdinnerを頂けました。連絡すればツェルマット駅までの送迎も返事一つで快く引き受けて頂けます。とても良い宿泊経験となりました。

Great location by the river, mountain views.
Zermatt is such a wonderful place to visit, it makes sense to enjoy it in style. This cosy but well equipped hotel satisfies those needs. Only stayed for a long weekend, but waking up to the view of the Matterhorn each morning is more than enough to stir the soul and make your year. Well equipped room with room to relax on the couch or on the terrace, the only 'issue' was the double bed was actually a twin, something that 99% of hotels tend to do anyway. Extremely friendly and helpful staff (something of a rarity in Switzerland to be honest) just complete the perfect experience. Come for summer sun or winter sports and you won't want to leave!

The Hotel Metropol and spa was a great place to stay in Zermatt. It had great WiFi, great spa, amazing view of the Matterhorn and was close to everything downtown. We stayed for a long weekend and very much enjoyed our stay. Cleaning staff was FANTASTIC! Breakfast was fantastic! Only negative for us, was that the staff was not forthcoming about recommendations, suggestions, etc for a 4 star hotel.

Love this hotel!
The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and the hotel has a really warm, inviting and family feel. We loved our stay here and would go back in a heartbeat. The breakfasts are amazing too, so much choice, not to mention the view from our room of the Matterhorn was incredible and the central location was perfect. The only thing I’d recommend would be if they could heat the pool as it was too cold to get into.

Great place to stay.
Only 5 mins from station and what a view of the Matterhorn! We booked a mountain view room with balcony and were certainly not disappointed. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Only problem was lugging the suitcases up about 10 metres of stairs to get to reception. I suppose if you're young it wouldn't matter. Shops and old town are all close walking distance and the spa is superb.

Perfect Zermatt hotel
We will stay at this hotel next time we go to Zermatt. There is a view of the Matterhorn from their restaurant, garden, and even the hot tub!!!! We have been traveling for 3 weeks and this was the nicest staff we have met! Great breakfast and handy location!

Very beautiful view from our hotel suite. Extremely nice reception and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and the hotel location is just wonderful. In the center of town but on the river so it is quiet and very relaxing. The sun deck is just superb, with a unbeatable view of the Matterhorn. The room (suite) was perfect for three of us. I would certainly go back to the Metropol!

Check in was very efficient. The room was ready earlier than expected. My single room was very clean, slightly smaller bathroom than expected and dated shower cubicle. Some TV channels not working, but not an issue for me. Good breakfast, everything you could want with cooked eggs made to order. Good facilities, well organized hotel and very friendly helpful staff. The location is excellent, especially for the Sunegga ski lift (200 metres), close to the centre (150 metres), close to ski bus stop (50 metres) Free collection and drop off at the train station.

A wonderful hotel
It is a very pleasant experience. The hotel has unblocked view of Matterhorn! All hotel staff are friendly and very helpful. Our room is clean and well equipped. The dinner and breakfasts are delicious with varieties of choices. Just a short walking distance to town centre. Also has a few kids playground nearby. We definitely will stay at Hotel Metropol & Spa again for our next visit.

Wonderful Ski Hotel
This was my second stay the Metropol and I found it as enjoyable as the first. The hotel picked me up at the train station. Checking in was fast and efficient, and my bags were waiting for me at my room. The bathroom room appears to have been recently renovated and had a heated towel rack and a heated floor. The room was very comfortable and had a HDTV, a writing desk, a minibar, and a comfortable chair. The breakfast was ample and had a wide variety of buffet offerings that included scrambled eggs, bacon, assorted cold meats and cheeses, cereals, dried fruits and nuts, and salmon. I dined there twice and found the offerings wide in variety, quite ample, and very delicious. The Suunega funicular to the slopes was an easy walk, and the bus stop was very close to the hotel. The Gonergrat train is within walking distance, but with skis, I found the bus more convenient. Great food, excellent service, and very well maintained, and a great value make this hotel a good place to stay. I will book again the next time I ski Zermatt.

This was the perfect hotel...reasonably priced with an amazing view of the Matterhorn. The hotel itself was a more traditional style in decor but rooms were big enough and very clean. It was also next to the big stream that runs through town...making for a wonderful stay. We would definitely go back.
