Hotel Review: Groovy Hotel Jen Orchardgateway

Where to stay in Singapore, you ask? Madly lovely wonderfully awesome Singapore. This city has been blessed with some of the world’s grooviest hotels. I spent a little weekend getaway at Hotel Jen Orchard Gateway, right along Orchard Road.

Hotel Jen Orchardgateway is a four star hotel with a funky modern groovy twist to suit the worldly style of us wandering ladies. The image of the hotel is based on a fictional character, Jen, who is short of with you throughout your whole stay.

Arriving to Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore

I jumped on a cab from Changi Airport to make my way to Hotel Jen Orchardgateway. The cab to the hotel cost 25-30 SGD. You can also get there by bus if heading in from the airport. If you are arriving from the city, take the MRT to Somerset MRT station.

Superior Cityview room

I stayed at the Superior Cityview room during my adventure at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway. The room was reasonably spacious and had everything you need in it. The room itself wasn’t mind-blowingly magical, but it was stylish, new and the city view was good. Also what made it all perfect was the fruit platter waiting for me in the fridge (things like that make me happy).

What I loved the most was the attention to detail in everything, from amenities to the communication on the hotel TV screen.

Breakfast at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway

I got to enjoy my breakfast at the Club Lounge of the hotel, which normally is accessible only for the guests staying in the Club room. Club Lounge is located on the 19th floor and while the selection is a bit smaller for brekkie, it’s a more peaceful way to start a day.

Your usual breakfast (though a bit tastier than many) is served downstairs. And they even serve 8 different flavours of ice-cream – my absolute favourite being durian!

Other services

Club Lounge offers small snacks and drinks throughout the day, so it was a perfect place for me to wind down after my many meetings at ITB Asia.

Lounge@Jen is a lounge open to everyone on the 10th floor. Lounge@Jen also serves drinks and snacks, and that attracts a lot of locals to come in and hang out with friends. On Wednesdays, there is a super fun ladies night!

Makan@Jen is the restaurant of the hotel, where a daily buffet dinner is served. The buffet is rather grande, but there wasn’t all too many options for a vegetarian (but enough to ensure you don’t need to leave hungry). The food was of high quality and the selection varied from all things lobsters to cheese to ice-cream and to a noodle bar.

OnTheGo is a small snack bar in the lobby of the hotel so you can get a quick bite on the go.

BayWatch@Jen was the best thing at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway. I mean – rooftop pools, what more do you need in life! Let the photos below explain what I mean!

Location of Hotel Jen Orchardgateway

Hotel Jen Orchardgateway is at an ideal location right along Orchard Road. The hotel is directly linked with a mall, so you only need to walk downstairs to get your shopping game on.

You also have a direct link to the MRT from the hotel to make it easy to go wander around the fabulous city that is Singapore.
