West Chelsea with its hundreds of galleries and studios is the center of New York’s visual arts community and the neighborhood is also home to a thriving gay community. For its string of nightclubs, West 27th Street is known as Club Row. Historic sites have found new purpose like Chelsea Piers, which was converted to a sports complex, and High Line, an elevated rail line transformed into a park.
