"I requested an early check-in several weeks in advance. I completely understand that early check-in is not guaranteed, so that was not my concern. What was disappointing was the communication and follow-through. When we arrived at 2:00 PM, the front desk associate told me she had my phone number and would call when our cottage was ready. We stayed nearby specifically so we wouldn’t miss the call. At 3:00 PM, I checked back in and was told it still wasn’t ready but that I would receive a text notification. By 4:00 PM, I went back to the desk again, only to be told the cottage was ready. Unfortunately, I never received a call or text as promised. That lack of communication was frustrating and made the wait feel unnecessary. This was especially disappointing given that I’ve stayed here six times over the past four years and have always had positive experiences. This visit felt noticeably different. The cottage was not cleaned thoroughly, the bathroom door handle came off in my hand upon closing it, and the following day, multiple screws fell out of the same door hinge, leaving it unstable. Additionally, while I understand Florida experienced an unusually cold winter, the landscaping around the cottage was in very poor condition, with dead foliage and no visible effort to maintain or clean it up. This has been my family’s favorite vacation spot for years, which makes it even more disappointing to say that the overall quality and experience seem to have declined."
