"The hotel is a striking and unusual building, very handsome, though we would have appreciated better signs - the rooms in the 400s, which had to be accessed through the library, were difficult to find when first arriving. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the location of the hotel, near the seafront sights (the Mary Rose museum, Nelson's flagship Victory, etc) and the ferry ports. Everything clean and well maintained."

"Overnight stay for our anniversary before meeting cruise ship. Lovely friendly lady on check in desk - lovely surprise for our anniversary, room decorated. Modern hotel, eat in the bar good food, served quickly, great fish and chips! Opening window too in the bathroom which a lot of modern hotels do not have. I like this as you can’t beat fresh air! Free parking. Yea and coffee in room. Comfy King size bed. Big tv! No complaints from me! Thank you Village Portsmouth! "

"We stayed one night as part of a cycle around the Island. The beds were comfortable, room was warm , ample breakfast and good cycle storage. One shower had very poor pressure and a door that didn’t shut properly. No shampoo and conditioner, just a body gel / shampoo that I would use on hair. Basic and just fine. "
