The parking cost $50 a day for guests to park. Room service took an hour to get through to them. No answer when I called both reception and concierge. No hot water on the first day I was there (fixed after complaint was made). PayPass didn’t work at some of there facilities so was inconvenient as I couldn’t use my phone. Had to remember to bring my purse. On check out was initially charged for 3 days parking when I only paid for 1. Wasn’t able to use my hold towards bill. Had to insert card and then didn’t get a receipt as it wasn’t able to be printed. I was informed I would get an email and have not received it.

Four years ago, pre-COVID, I have previously stayed at the Pullman which is the adjoining hotel to the Mercure, with shared restaurant and reception. It is an ideal location if you are in Brisbane for shopping or visiting the art galleries and museum. This time I stayed at the Mercure and whilst I understand that this is a more budget option I was very disappointed as the rooms are tired to say the least. The difference in attitude from reception to the Mercure and Pullman guests was noticable, the carpet in the lifts was filthy, the majority of the porters were only grudgingly helpful which made things difficult as I have arthritis and when you shower the soap suds come up through the drain in the middle of the bathroom which is less than hygenic. I stayed in two different rooms a week apart and the experience was the same on all counts, which was unfortunate. The high points of my stays were the housekeepers who are very friendly and helpful; and the breakfast supervisor who was bright and welcoming, using guests names to greet them whenever she was able and generally making sure the guests had a lovely start to the day. Overall a very poor experience and I won't be staying at the Mercure again.
