The Royal at Atlantis

8/10 Good

"The Royal Tower has the most updated rooms. But there is no kitchenette or microwave which is a nice convenience for the Reef tower. If you want to save money by cooking and heating up leftovers, I would recommend Reef over Royal. The pros to the Royal tower is it’s central to Atlantis, and you don’t need to take shuttles; everything is walkable. Ocean view rooms are amazing! We were in 15-522 and the view is breath taking. You have a perfect view of the ocean and the resort, you can see predator lagoon and mantas and sharks swimming from your room. And the staff are slightly nicer and a little more flexible when entering the hotel with wet swimsuit attire on. The access to the water park is right at your door step vs other towers (Reef, Coral, Cove). If you are traveling with kids or teens, I would recommend Royal Tower and a room with ocean view if budget is not a concern."

"Room was clean, but still dated there was no wow factor and we had an upgraded room, but the pool area was nice along with amazing bar, staff, and great food options every single day. The beach access was also amazing and def worth the stay. Also, a good walking area if you enjoy getting out."

"We enjoyed our first visit to Atlantis Coral and had a wonderful overall experience. The staff and local people were very friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Our room had a spectacular water view that truly made the trip feel special. There were, however, a few areas that could use improvement. The room door was extremely stiff and difficult to both open and close, which was frustrating at times. Additionally, the in-room dining experience was disappointing, as the food quality did not meet expectations. Overall, despite a few inconveniences, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the beautiful surroundings and hospitality."

"This hotel is great! Everything was super clean, staff were so kind and helpful. Especially Alexis, the doorman - Sweetest man ever! Made our stay 10x better! It’s also in a super good location, coffee shops nearby and easy restaurant access, there’s also a pharmacy (Botica) close-by! It’s a 5-10 minute walk from the downtown and the Kura Hulanda village. The hotel has free parking too and it’s very secure! Would recommend and will probably return!"

"When we booked, I was a bit concerned because reviews were either excellent or quite disappointing--with very little in between. It all depends on the room assigned! When we first arrived, we were ushered to a rather dark and very musty room on the first floor. It's an old historic hotel and I tried to be understanding when my request for a change was met with a promise for housekeeping to refresh. Once the windows were closed for overnight, however, the dankness returned and irritated my sinuses enough to require medication in the morning. I politely insisted that we be moved that day and was accommodated by Rachel once the checkout period was over. The new room on the top floor was sunny and fresh. No more sinus symptoms! Then, I was able to really enjoy the gorgeous historic property with charming courtyard, the lovely views, the PERFECT location with easy walking throughout Old San Juan to restaurants and attractions, daily coffee on the terrace, and the excellent bar. In addition, a relationship with a property on Isla Verde enabled us to have a lovely beach day with complimentary chairs, towels, etc. And Rachel and her colleagues (am forgetting his name) were gracious in checking in to make sure our stay was improved and all was well. I'd highly recommend."
