"Nice traditional old Japanese style stay. Though Breakfast is also traditionally Japanese style with rice! Yes morning Breakfast with rice, we still prefer bread or something light. Room extremely spacious compare to Tokyo city. Might need some renovations to upgrade tho. "

"Excellent & simple facilities with everything you need. Lots of stairs, but if you are going skiing you kind of need to be good with that. Staff are extremely accommodating and help you with your luggage. Tengu Sushi & Teppanyaki restaurants were delicious."

"Hotel is okay from a room/cleaniness. Check-in was a problem with both hotels.com and the actual check-in. Hotels.com doesn't handle international travel well as they didn't put in that the room we chose was double occupancy. It's not in our receipt which is telling me that it probably got lost in the email to the hotel. It's in the app but apparently that wasn't relayed to the hotel. When we checked in, the reception said it was for single occupancy although we paid the double rate already...

"Very friendly staff, between hotel shuttle and ski rental shuttles, can pretty much catch rides everywhere. Nice to walk back to hotel, very safe. "

"Many hot springs around. Need your own transport to get around. Went off season so maybe the dining options were limited. Good place to unwind though."

"This ryokan was lovely- all the staff were so accommodating and made us feel very special! The ryokan itself is dainty and pleasant. There was public Onsens for women’s and men’s separate (in the women’s there was 1 indoor and 1 outdoor public Onsen with shower room inside). You can also book a private Onsen when you arrive - they have 45 min time slots for 3000 yen! Also very quick walk to Yubatake and the bus station! Would recommend"

"We throughly enjoyed our stay. Super, beautiful hotel, a great staff at the front desk, dining, entertainment was a big surprise. I wished we stayed day or two longer. I would return again when opportunity arise. Thank you all to Sakurai. A Five Star and beyond. "
