"Ok for a short stay , in need of a revamp in places , and attention to detail in cleaning , lift out of order again sadly ,only very small one working , said for four people, but no way . Would stay again for short stays , but no longer , is convenient for town, restaurants and pier and beach , not saying this hotel is bad , as I’ve stayed here many times for location, it just needs a make over in areas and a longer time spent on cleaning , expecially the bathrooms , plenty of tea facilities, but stale water left in kettle and coffee machine , maybe me being picky. I’d still book again for a one or two night stay, Going back to eastbourne in July , but have chose to stay at the chatworth this time 🌻"

"We were thankfully only staying for one night, as the experience was extremely disappointing and nowhere near what was advertised. Our room was located in the basement, with very steep stairs to access it — something that was especially difficult while travelling with a toddler and a buggy. The basement-level window was directly at street level, so all we could see were people’s feet and passing vehicles. Unfortunately, the noise insulation was also very poor, and it genuinely felt as though we were trying to sleep on the street itself due to the constant noise outside. While the room appeared superficially clean, there were no rugs or soft flooring, and the overall condition did not feel particularly comfortable or welcoming. The room also smelled strongly of cigarettes throughout our stay. There were several maintenance and safety concerns that were quite alarming. The door could not be locked from the inside, which made us feel very uneasy, especially travelling as a family. In addition, the fridge provided in the room was leaking. What was most frustrating was that the room we were given did not resemble the advertised photos at all. In fact, photos of this particular basement room do not appear to be shown anywhere in the listing, which felt very misleading. Overall, this was not the standard of accommodation we expected, and I would strongly advise future guests — especially families with young children — to consider carefully before booking."

"Very good value. Very approachable and helpful staff. Resourceful and thoughtful furnishing of a small room with several things many more expensive hotels lack or are too often forgotten e.g. adequate wardrobe, places to hang bath AND hand towels (many properties seem not to have thought this to be a bathroom necessity), a bath mat (yes, some places fail to provide one), easily-opening window for fresh air (as opposed to an ancient, rickety sash that is blocked from opening more than 2 inches). Unrestricted street parking right opposite - very useful for those of us with Blue Badges - though spaces might be filled if you come late. I will return."

"The room was ideal ***** for myself as a solo traveller. This top floor room was nicely decorated. clean, secure, facilities perfect and no noise from the stairs/common area, nor outside. Could not fault the room at all. Decor throughout the hotel generally was very pleasant. The lift was out of order however it didn't spoil my stay as although one of the agile older generation, was up and down the stairs in no time at all. "

"Great welcome at the door and help with luggage. Sea view room, great breakfast and helpful staff. Only downside was the loud seagull outside at 6am but hey, we were beside the seaside!!"
