"Itโ€™s not a purpose built hotel so rooms are designed around the architecture of the building and beware there are no lifts to the first floor We were on a corner room top of the stairs and it was a bit noisy as the floorboards creek people going past and it was quite noisy at the back of the hotel where our room was during the night. Because itโ€™s quite an old building the aircon wasnโ€™t that powerful so if during a heatwave I wouldnโ€™t be booking this hotel. The room was also open plan in that you can see the bathroom from the bed but thankfully the toilet was in a separate side door. Decor was lovely , staff friendly enough and did offer to carry cases. Nice bar area to relax in and the restaurant looked nice but a bit pricey compared to whatโ€™s offered in the city. Walkable to the train station from the hotel and centre of town. Iโ€™ve stayed in many hotels and Iโ€™m just not sure this was worth the price , more style and personal preference than anything they can do differently( I need air con ) but I will be trying a different hotel next time when Iโ€™m York as comfiness of the bed wasnโ€™t there to draw me back."

Radisson Hotel York

Radisson Hotel York

8/10 Good
"We really liked this room, liked the river view. Didn't like the check in process, it felt impersonal and odd. Without a proper front desk it was strange. We got pretty sick and tired of hearing doors constantly slamming by the last night we were there. They honestly need to find a way to put soft close hinges on these doors because it's brutal. The room was clean, temperature was great, tv was great, beds were mediocre. The pillows are awful so pack your own pillow. My half of the bed was OK but the other half needed replacing. (they put two singles side by side). All and all though, we would stay here again and it's a great location to walk over the bridge and check out all the sights."

Holiday Inn York by IHG

Holiday Inn York by IHG

8/10 Good
"Staff were friendly and informative on arrival and check in was quick and simple. Stayed in a double room which had tea and coffee available, no biscuits though. Good size desk for working on, with plenty of sockets in the room including USB points as well as more socket/USB by the bed. wifi had very good signal and easy to connect to. Iron, ironing board and hair dryer also in the room. Shower was powerful and hot with soap/shampoo available, although it was a compact area with little space. A Buffet Breakfast was offered, which had a good selection of items, but as seems to be normal these days, the temperature was warm rather than hot for the food. Parking available and free which is always a bonus, just need to make sure you enter your car reg on the iPad in reception. Overall good value for the facilities but could do with a bit of an upgrade/refurb in communal areas."
