"The breakfast buffet was delicious and the staff were great. The hotel room I was in was old with an uncomfortable mattress, carpet was stained, and the baseboards needed painting as the paint looked chipped in a few spots. The floors were creaky so you heard when anyone was walking around."

"The property is set in a stunning location. Our room left a little to be desired though. Described as a compact twin room it was really that. The beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom acceptable. We were disappointed with the overall feel of the room. Wallpaper was peeling on the walls, the TV was crooked and just about holding on to it's wall hanging. For GBP100 we felt it was not value for money."

"It’s a beautiful place to stay. Since you’re outside the main building, you feel a bit removed from the atmosphere of the house, but overall it was very nice. We noticed that the staff was very structured — friendly, but stressed, and very much focused on “following the rules.” In our opinion, this should be a place to truly relax… and we didn’t really feel that. We also didn’t like that after 11 p.m. there is no one left in the main house. If you’re having a drink, the staff disappears and you’re completely alone, which gives a sense of insecurity. The breakfast is very good, and you can easily skip the tasting dinner in the main dining room because the à la carte menu is very varied, complete, and delicious."

"The hotel is in a convenient location for the town and train station. There’s also lots of parking. However, the hotel is tired and atmosphere was not welcoming. The Reception staff checked us in was cold efficient - so we got a room key! We heard other Receptionists give info about breakfast and amenities but we got none! Room was functional but stuffy and tired. We booked twice to eat in the restaurant but cancelled the 2nd one as the food was so awful (pie was the only hot thing due to it’s obvious encounter with a microwave, veg was inedible and mash was congealed). Staff were disinterested and also drinks arrived after the food - we had to ask twice about them by that stage. Even the hotel name on the frontage was missing half of its letters, it just seems that the hotel rests on it’s location so if that’s what you need it’s fine but we’d definitely recommend dining elsewhere. "
