Our experience with ‘Moongate villa’ was disappointing because on our 2nd day, some building works began next door which woke us up at 8.00am in the morning and the cement pouring and flattening machines started working. It’s no exaggeration to say that the whole of our building vibrated to the machines being used. As for the noise all of this created, it was horrendous! The owners of ‘Moongate villa’ agreed to give us 1 x night free of charge. Please confirm that you can refund us this back into my card by which I paid. Kind regards Sue Haugh

Kia ora Sue;We were very disappointed with our neighbouring business who chose to operate come ground flattening equipment to improve the adjacent parking area at 8am, without the courtesy of asking or forewarning us. This was totally out of our control, and in the over 12 years we have been open, this is the first time we have had such a disturbance.We do find it a little confusing that you used that incident to justify such a low rating for all the other help we offered, service and accommodation quality. Was that your intention? In recognition of the noise disturbance, we have agreed to compensate one night of the accommodation. As you prepaid your accommodation at a rate agreed through Expedia, we have no access to your financial details; only Expedia will have access to your payment to process a refund. For security reasons a refund can only be issued to the original card. We suggest you persevere with contacting their customer support. Posting requests on this platform are only visible to the public, and will not result in action by Expedia support. Once they contact us to verify we have agreed to this compensation, they can process a credit to you. We trust that you enjoyed the rest of your New Zealand holiday.Nga mihi;

Marvellous at Moon Gate Villa
A piece of paradise. Peaceful and private. We spent three nights here, wonderful hosts, lovely comfortable rooms surrounded by amazing gardens and yummy breakfasts.

Small paradise
We went for 2 nights with our dog Millie , we love everything about the cottage, they kindly have a bed and bowls for her. It was fantastic stay, breakfast was fresh and delicious! And excellent service. Is a small paradise for relax and enjoy

We had the pleasure of staying at the moon gate villa in Kerikeri. On arrival there was a blackboard with our names welcoming us upon check in we were asked if we would like a nice glass of wine to start our holiday The room was clean and tidy and serviced daily nighttime our bed was turned down with chocolates left on our pillows Breakfast was great with the choice of a full cooked or continental . Our hosts Lionel and Rob were excellent I would highly recommend Moongate for your next vacation in Kerikeri

Moon Gate Villa is an absolutely stunning beautiful property. The tropical gardens and settings are amazing, we hired the cottage a beautiful little property, the cottage is dog friendly the place is absolutely immaculate, the owners really go over and above covering all amenities even a gorgeous wee dog bed and bowls. An amazing breakfast basket is included with gorgeous home made goodies. This property is beautiful with Lovely Tropical gardens, the location is right in the hard of keri keri only a 1 minute walk to the local farmers markets and Makana Chocolate Factory, and also keri keri Centre and the winery’s. We would highly recommend this place.

Hidden gem - “Over the Moon”.
What a surprise!! We had a lovely cottage bungalow which had everything you required and overlooked a beautiful garden. Our hosts Rob and Lionel were fantastic - we were greeted with such warmth from Rob, who suggested several sites for us to visit and looked after us so well.

Wonderful private stay
My husband and I had high hopes for our stay at Moongate Villas and they were fulfilled. Upon arrival it was lovely to see a Welcome sign for us and our wee puppy. Lionel greeted us, made us feel welcome and explained everything about Moongate. We had booked the separate summer cottage. Parking right outside. The cottage had a small bathroom - shower, toilet, vanity with luxurious towels, soaps, extras you could need. It had a kitchen/diner with microwave, sink, fridge/freezer, hotplate, coffee machine, crockery, cutlery etc. and open plan to a bedroom/lounge area. A nice couch, with flat screen tv, and a very comfortable bed and pillows. We had free wifi which worked well as well as Netflix, Lightbox, Plex = all great. This area opened onto a lovely deck with small table and chairs and two long comfy 'day beds'. From there we had a huge piece of private garden which our dog loved. We made use of the small solar heated pool during our stay and that was well kept. Continental breakfast is provided by way of a tray the night before consisting of cereals, fruit juice, toast, jams, fresh fruit and yoghurt. This was included in the price or you could pay an extra $15 each for a full cooked breakfast in the main house. Our hosts Lionel and Rob were excellent, friendly, helpful and made sure everything was perfect. We highly recommend this place (and we have stayed at a few hotels!!).

Genuine 5 star
I am usually sceptical when I hear that a B&B is 5 star, but was delighted to be proven wrong. Moon Gate Villa is better accommodation than a number of 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. On top of this, Lionel provides a superb spread for breakfast. The hosts also provide great insight into the best places to visit in the area and the best restaurants to dine at. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area for a few days.

Moon Gate Villa is number 1
My Sister and I stayed at the Moon Gate Villa and we had the Deluxe Suite which Had 2 rooms that was comfortable and of excellent quality. We were welcomed with much Aroha from Rob and the very famous Mojo who plays a special role in welcoming guests when they arrive. Our Host was Lionel and he has a wealth of knowledge and experience pertaining to caring for their guests. We definitely got the 5 Star treatment which was a 10/10. For me as a guest i really appreciated it how the team had made our stay very special. We definitely thought it was so beautiful to have my name on a blackboard to welcome us at the Moon Gate Villa. Breakfast was incredible a banquet fit for a Queen we were definitely spoilt I want to thank you All so much for the 5 star treatment that we received it was definitely memorable If you are looking for the best don't look any further the Moon Gate Villa is number 1. Just like home! Very comfy beds and towels. Large closet. Large main room with sitting area. Leads to a porch with a chairs/table and two high quality sunbathing chairs. Tv had access to many movies. Very quiet area. Lovely landscaping - picture worthy ! Breakfast was HUGE so bring your appetite! Custom made! Parking was easy. 2 min drive to their town center. The hidden gem of Kerikeri
An amazing place to stay. A short distance into Kerikeri and to the Stone Store. Rainbow falls is only 10 minutes away. The staff made us feel as if we were a part of the family. The room was spacious. The breakfast was delicious. Toons of movies to watch and Netflixs.

Relaxing Moon Gate
We stayed in the cabin in garden which was spacious and self contained. We self catered breakfast the first day with provisions supplied which were plentiful and excellent. The second day we chose to eat in the main house. The breakfast here was generous to say the least, beautifully presented and thoroughly worth the extra cost. The gardens and setting at the moon gate are really beautiful and restful. Lionel's assistance and suggestions of where to dine for dinner were excellent. Overall a really excellent and relaxing holiday experience and would recommend the Moon Gate as a lovely indulgent destination. We would recommend this as a place for return visit for ourselves, friends and family.

Simply amazing
Wow, what a pleasant surprise upon arrival. The hosts, Lionel and Rob, were gracious, knowledgeable about the area, helpful in making suggestions for traveling/dinner/sightseeing/etc. The villa is absolutely gorgeous and the grounds are stunning. Although it rained for most of our stay in Kerikeri, we couldn't have had a better time. It was a great place to relax and unwind during our trip. It was obvious that our hosts LOVE what they do. We felt so welcomed and really hated to leave.

A real find in the heart of Kerikeri
Stayed 3 days in the cottage and found it to be top notch, beautifully laid out, luxury linen and amenities, perfect for a relax.. Setting was amongst the gardens and off the main road so very quite other than the birds chirping which I enjoyed. I found the hosts very helpful and they made extra efforts with extra caring touches which made us feel welcome and well looked after. Definitely recommend this accommodation, so glad we chose it for ourselves ;-)

The most memorable stay of our trip!
We loved our recent stay in Moon Gate Villa. I stayed with my two adult daughters and this worked out very well. The villa and rooms are beautiful and the grounds and setting are amazing, but what made our stay so very special was the way Lionel looked after us.

A Rare Hidden Gem
A beautiful architecturally designed villa combined with stylish furnishings and a generous and friendly host - it is one of those rare gems that you hope to find but rarely do. Amazing breakfast, heated pool, modern stylish bathrooms, gorgeous gardens and so many more inclusions.... a wonderful stay that I would highly recommend.

We were impressed with the quality and efficiency of the small cottage. It had everything we needed, and more. Plus the quality of the sheets, bed, pillows and the layout - living room with small couch, table and TV - completed the away-from-home but at home picture. The kitchen was also outfitted with everything.

Amazing tropical paradise!
We stayed in the Cottage and it was so cozy and comfortable, with a sofa to watch tv. The Cottage comes with a continental breakfast with yoghurt, toast, cheese and meats. If you stay in the Main House, you get a hot breakfast. The Main House has amazing architecture: especially the front door, indoor waterfall & curved glass wall! Beautiful gardens, pool and lawns. The hosts, Lionel and Rob were very helpful with suggestions on where to eat and places to see. We wished we could have stayed longer!

We stayed in the cottage and I really loved it. The area is so beautiful and the grounds of the Villa were full of flowers. The cottage had a nice little kitchen which was very helpful and there are a couple grocery stores near by if you want to prepare your own food. Bed was very comfortable and had premium linens. They had a little DVD library that you can borrow from, which was nice and relaxing way to end the day.

Moon Gate Villa - a perfect holiday getaway
I stayed in the cottage at the Moon Gate Villa for three days as part of a 3 week visit to New Zealand. It was by far one of the nicest experiences I had in New Zealand. The proprietors were extremely helpful and attentive without being intrusive, the location is convenient to Kerikeri without being in the middle of things, and the grounds and facility are very peaceful and beautiful. I woke up serenaded by the birds in the garden every morning.
