One of the quieter beaches in Krabi, Khlong Muang Beach boasts a stunning long stretch of sandy beach that is lined with upscale resorts and hotels. It is an important place for Thais, as it is home to a Thai Royal residence, as well as being a popular destination for those with money to spend. Khlong Muang Beach is a tranquil resort with a modest charm, a place to relax and enjoy the beach and its surrounding natural scenery.
Don’t MissKhlong Muang is actually made up of three beaches, with Khlong Muang Beach itself sitting in the centre. Many visitors spend at least a week here relaxing and being pampered.
The picturesque sunsets at the southernmost end of Laem Hang Nak are something out of a picture book. On the cliff just above this stretch is the Royal Residence towering over the sand. Khlong Muang Beach is the centre stretch of beach and the most built-up, offering numerous water activities, like kayaking, windsurfing, deep sea fishing and sailing.
Krabi itself is famed for its stunning natural beauty and wide range of excursions, and those that want to explore further away from Khlong Muang Beach should try these: snorkelling or scuba diving in the Andaman Sea, taking a longtail boat to visit the nearby islands, hiking in the national park that sits at the very north end of the beach (at Tubkaek Beach) or white water rafting.
Restaurants and BarsEating and drinking is just as upscale as the resorts in the area, with the top restaurants being located inside the luxury resorts and hotels. There is also a selection of restaurants on the road leading out of the village where visitors can find Halal food and other local delights. On Fridays there is a market in the village where visitors may enjoy cheap fried and barbequed food. Bars are in the confines of the resort grounds, either in the lobby, at the pool or on the beachfront.
ShoppingThere is no shopping here other than a few gift shops in the upscale hotels. The Friday Klong Muang Market sells bargain items common to markets of its kind. You can also make the 15-minute journey over to Ao Nang for a much wider selection of shops in which to pick up souvenirs, handicrafts, clothing and other cheap items.
