Great location, still a car is helpful and adviced to go around (about 15min from center thong sala). The hotel service is great. The beach sand with small stones so closed diving shoes are advised. The hotel pool is great also the breakfast. Tiny of maintainance and the hotel can get realy tidy. In summary, great hotel

Loved the villa ,breakfast chaotic lowlife of foods and areas dirty and unkempt.Tiles in pool were broken and general and areas not maintained including standing areas for pool showers .Nothing is jet cleaned around pool .Pool is however large and we loved it .The area in front of the bar is filthy ,weeds and nobody clears tables or empties rubbish .The area where the egg station is has upturned old furniture and things just stacked there and again dirty floors .The housekeeping staff were lovely but restaurant staff lazy and no signs of Happy Hours or promotions .This place has no visible management which is ridiculous it needs to be lived and could be great with care and attention .There is no beach in front you have to walk around the corner and that’s nice there.I have read a lot of previous comments and it does not look like any attention is paid as nothing improved and that’s careless .

The resort is absolutely beautiful. The room and resort is per photos. The pool area is wonderful and the location of the resort although quite remote is good. Only issue we had is that the neighboring beach has some wild dogs on in and during one of our visits to the beach the dogs savagely attacked each other.

Fantastic staff and hotel, not the best location.
Amazingly friendly staff! It was the best part of our stay. Fantastic gardens and huge pool. Not the best location and the standard rooms are ok, but the beds and pillows were uncomfortable. Food overall is good and reasonably priced. Disappointed that the beach bar restaurant was closed and was not advised in advance of our stay. There is nothing really close by to chose from either. The beach was a little disappointing and not what we expected for snorkeling. The surroundings are really beautiful with lots of trees and birds. The hotel itself is very clean and has great service but the location overall was not what we were looking for, but thats personal preference.

Nice hotel but a bit overpriced for what you can get around the island. Quite a long wait for food from the restaurant. Nice big pool but had tiles missing which cuts feet.

10/10 after 3 weeks and 7 hotels in thailand was Mae Haad Bay Resort by far the best. Staff, Room, Pool area and Bar, Breakfast and Beach. Everything was superb!

Not bad.
Nice property (although quite large) in quiet village. We used the pier transfer service both ways and it worked very well. Hotel staff was very kind and helpful. Our room overlooked the pool with the swim up bar and the loud music wasn’t really our thing, but it was only on until 7pm, so it didn’t end up bothering us too much. There was not many people partying in the pool but I imagine it gets busy around the full moon. The other pool was a more quiet place to hang out, if you prefer, and there are rooms over there. So make sure you get what you want when you are booking. There was a pretty strong sulphery smell occasionally coming from the plumbing in our otherwise very nice room. We never had any hot water and we weren’t sure if that was by design due to the climate. It didn’t bother us, but it might bother you.

Maehaad Bay review
Resort is a bit tired and old family rooms need updating. Gap in front door made it tricky for children to sleep as noise and light came into room and not very secure. Beach in front of hotel is not great, much better beach at Thong Nai Pan. Staff are friendly but as a resort charging a fair amount for your stay something is missing.

I LOVED my stay at Maehaad. First of all, this property is located in a very quiet part of the island, which is exactly what I was looking for. A mini mart and a couple of places to eat in the vicinity. Some great view points within walking distance (360 Bar and Tree House bar), also a waterfall close by. If you are looking for more of a "party" scene, this is not it. Maehaad Beach is nice and in the morning it's quiet, but it gets busy. There are nicer beaches on the island, but I was happy to stay close to the hotel. It was also very cool to walk across the sand "bridge" that forms when the tide is low, connecting it to Ko Mah island. Snorkeling is not good here. I snorkeled the length of Ko Mah and didn't see much other than a lot of dead coral, unfortunately. The hotel has a beautiful pool if you need a break from full sun exposure on the beach. The hotel will send a free shuttle to pick you up on arrival if you arrange it beforehand otherwise, return shuttle or any shuttle getting to Thong Sala Pier will cost 150 bht pp. (min 2 people or 300 bht). The service and staff are excellent. They can help you with any bookings or special requests. Breakfast was buffet style with lots of options. Rooms are beautiful. I was upgraded to a room overlooking the pool and it was my favorite of all the places I stayed on my 2-week holiday. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place to relax.

Don't book until they have finished the refurb
We wasted our first day in a room that couldn't lock properly and facing a construction site even the staff struggled to close the door. We felt unsafe to leave the room that night and unfortunately that evening they were fully booked and couldn't offer another room. The second day we were moved into another room which was amazing we had wished we had that room to begin with.

The hotel was wonderful ! The only thing I would say that our rooms shower had open brick at the top so bugs and little geckos could get in ! Not really a major problem as long as you keep the door closed ! And probably one fly came in too .. wasn’t a major deal for me but other people might feel differently! The pool and the food in the restaurant was amazing ! Thanks again

Great hotel
The hotel is wonderful. The rooms are very modern and spacious. The staff had created a beautiful flower decoration on our bed when we arrived. The pool is really big and a great part of the hotel. The hotel is right on the beach. The restaurant food was good. Unfortunately, they were doing some repair work to the beach as well as construction on the hotel and so during June 2016 there were construction vehicles and noise on the beach. Also note that in June the sea is quite shallow which made snorkeling nearby quite difficult.

Want a peaceful time in koh phangan
Beautiful hotel, spacious rooms, huge showers, very clean, good breakfast, but mostly the hotel staff were so attentive and kind. If you want to get away from the party scene of koh phangan this is a perfect hotel! It's relaxing, quiet, peaceful, beautiful scenery and just a short scooter ride into the towns!

The resort is very relaxing and beautiful its 40 min from the center But if you are traveling to relax it's the perfect resort for you. The restaurant of the hotel is not very good but you have 2 min walk on the beach very nice restaurant very nice good food and very large menu.

the resort is 200 m far from the beach. sounds nothing but its really inconvenient. we really didn't appreciate the cleaning of the room- there is a huge window facing the beautiful pool but it wasn't cleaned for a ages. the window as well and they don't clean the porch. the bathroom was fool of ants. bad water flow iin shower, lousy wifi during the day really bad slow and un pleasant service in hotel's restaurant. the resort itself is really clean and quite and the pool is amazing. in front of hotel there is a massage shop with one of the most amazing massagist we ever met.

We arrived at night n were greeted by friendly staff. The lady that showed us to our Villa was extremely informative n helpful. The villas are roomy n were cleaned daily n had a outside shower which we enjoyed using. Plenty of options to eat outside the resort but most were closed as it was quiet season. The maehaad Resort restaurant wasnt expensive and had a variety of choices for breakfast n dinner. The beach is clean n we snorkelled most days. Also i recommend the cocktails at the bar.

Just spent 4 nights here and have to say the Staff couldn't do enough for us, the Hotel and Grounds were kept spotless and our room was the amazing, biggest balcony and bathroom Ive ever had. There were 3 of us and the room was still huge so for a couple Id definately advise getting the Deluxe Room. We stayed in 2201 Location was perfect right next to the beach which is probably the best in Koh Phangan, the swimming pool was also huge. I would 100% recommend anyone to stay here

Avoid this experience!
The women at check-in were among the most apathetic, insolent horrors I have come across in many years of travel. The approach to solving a problem was to refuse everything and hide behind "its our policy". They refused to escalate the problem to the manager and made fun of us for booking this hotel (prepaid through expedia). The lackadaisical service carries across to other resort staff too, where you would expect a staff member to locate a sun lounge mattress for you, the reply I got was being waived over to the pool and take someone elses. The deluxe rooms are nice enough but lack design and thoughtless use of space... don't expect any view other than reception or the pool. The resort beach is an even bigger disappointment. Gravel with cement poles holding in the sand. This hotel is not on the picture postcard beach, however it is a short walk away from it, but just means you do not get the benefit of the hotel sun lounges to lie on the beach, instead fight for your stretch of sand with the boat loads of back backpackers that spend the day on the best part of the beach. The beach becomes unswimable at low tide where you can't get past the weed and coral to reach water deeper than mid calf height. You need a motor bike to reach the areas where the closest decent restaurants are, which are for hire right outside the hotel.This place guarantees to disappoint.
