Great experience. Excellent service, beautiful rooms, very comfortable. Amazing breakfast and fantastic location right in front of Hyde park and a few minutes walk to the underground. Highly recommend.

I loved the welcoming staff and the beautiful room we had overlooking Green Park. The location was great for shopping and walking in Hyde Park. Also situated near the tube station.

Perfect hotel

This hotel was the cherry on top of a perfect trip to London. The staff was very professional and accommodating. The room was comfortable, super clean, and sleek. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Honestly I can’t capture how perfect this hotel was

Absolutely horrible experience at this hotel.. the staff made me so uncomfortable and made me cry.. I was rejected at the spa area because I’m pregnant (19 weeks) they said it was hotel policy but it’s not stated anywhere at all, so I wasn’t welcome at the spa or gym because their insurance didn’t cover.. I chose this specific hotel because they had a spa, as I wanted to relax after hours of shopping, however I was told I couldn’t use any of their facilities (spa and gym facilities) and when I questioned if I couldn’t decide that myself I was very rudely asked “would you really risk your unborn child for a spa?” Which obviously made me feel really uncomfortable and upset as a first time mum going a way with a friend for a weekend of shopping and spa.. When we spoke with the “manager”, there was no understanding or any apology at all.

Really lovely stay. Spa was great, quiet, rooms good. I would say I booked a deluxe room and it seemed to look the same as the cheaper alternative? The only difference says it has a king bed and different pillows and a few sq meters more in the room? Stay helpful. Room service never came and they didn’t seem to care or really explain why or apologies, more of a brush off?

Overall good stay

Main issue for me was noise. Rooms are not sound proof and street noise woke my infant well before his normal time everyday which resulted in tired baby and parents. Reservations are not helpful and one of them is rather inhospitable, she made sure to say her name extremely quickly to ensure it was impossible to discern.

Not worth it

Room was very small and bathroom was awkwardly designed. Shower glass couldn’t cover so water gets all over. Bathroom was so small and hard to use. Also, they put us on 2nd floor by the side street. Constantly there were noisy from the street when they have shipments arriving to the hotel. I suggest to request on higher floor. It wasn’t worth paying that much as 5 star hotel. We stayed CQ afterwards, it was bigger with free water and gourmet coffee all you can. Which was great!

We stayed here for 5 nights and loved it. The hotel is in an incredible location, a short walk to Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and shopping in Mayfair. The rooms appear to be recently renovated and are just lovely - the bathrooms are a bit dated, it would be good to see them modernised. All of the staff are fantastic, this was some of the best service we have ever experienced in all of our travelling. Super accommodating, will even help you make reservations and purchase tickets to events. We were on our honeymoon and they placed a delightful gift of balloons and chocolates in our room, along with a handwritten card from the team. The attention to detail is exceptional. The Breakfast is excellent, and we loved that we could order it to the room for no extra charge. We also ordered from the restaurant for lunch, and that food was excellent as well. A minor negative is that the coffee is terrible, the pod machine in the room is better - but there is a great Italian style coffee place right next door. Overall, we will definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Athenaeum.

Front of house staff, as always, outstanding and accommodating. Special access lounge now disappointing as There was limited availability of food and libations. I would like an honesty bar as I had clients join me and then had virtually nothing to offer them.
