"The hotel is very nice with friendly staff and a nearby newsagent. The hotel is also close to Brunstane rail station with regular trains to Edinburgh Waverley, and there are nearby bus stops for buses into Edinburgh city centre. The room is clean and, although fairly basic, is decent size and contains everything you need. The breakfast is of good quality, and the adjoining gym and spa are definite bonuses. "

"We stayed for weekend friday to sunday. The Hotel is a traditional scottish village hotel doubling as village pub, with an old fashioned layout including a seperate entrance for the bar. So to use the bar you actually leave the hotel and re enter the bar. Some will find that quaint and charming The room was comfortable, clean and warm and everything worked. Breakfast was excellent and service was attentive. This is a small village hotel not a chain. Service reflected that, nice and attentive but not as many amenities. We enjoyed our stay "

"Good morning, I just wanted to let you know that I experienced a few problems with breakfast during our stay. Firstly, on Saturday morning, when I asked for a coffee, I was given a half cup of cold black coffee by a young man. I did not say anything at the time. The following morning, I bought my own coffee and noticed that everyone else in the restaurant was being served coffee in a small cafetière. I did not understand why this was not offered to me. Also, on Sunday morning, I ordered Eggs Royale. Instead, I was served two boiled eggs on smoked salmon with what looked like two spoons of mayonnaise. I mentioned to the staff that it was not Eggs Royale, but again I left it, as they did not seem to know how to deal with the issue. We had also booked a table on Friday night and could not understand why there were two different dining rooms — one with tablecloths and one plain. When I made the booking, I believed we would be seated in the main restaurant, as there was nothing on the website explaining the difference. Otherwise, the food on Friday night was good and the bedroom was lovely. However, we travel frequently in Scotland and, unfortunately, I will not be returning.
