The island's unique ban on motor vehicles since 1898 creates a peaceful 19th-century atmosphere. Travellers can wander through boutiques, enjoy waterfront views, or visit landmarks like Biddle House. When evening falls, gas lamps illuminate the streets for romantic strolls.

Hubbard's Annex

Step back in time while wandering the peaceful streets of Hubbard's Annex on Mackinac Island. This exclusive historic district showcases well-preserved Victorian cottages and summer homes from the late 1800s. No motorised vehicles disrupt the tranquil atmosphere of this upscale residential area. The neighborhood's tree-lined paths offer a perfect escape from tourist crowds. Crystal-clear Lake Huron peeks through gaps in the mature maples while historic wooden porches creak gently in the breeze. Just a short walk connects you to downtown's fudge shops and island attractions.

"Really Liked: Thoughtful re-design and decorating, welcoming messages and amenities (basket of items available in case of packing mistakes) , gift card to wonderful Swedish Pantry, a next door restaurant we open for lunch and breakfast. Very clean and well organized. Opportunity for Exceptional: when the Main Street road construction is finished it will be easier to navigate the general area of the home for dinner and walking, could use a lamp or two in the otherwise dark living room and the main bedroom mattress is ready to be replaced. All fixable."

"The Harbor View Inn had a wonderful look and location, but the staff was only attentive to the question asked, with no added details/explanation/information. "Happy to have you visit to our Island and to our Inn", "Can I give you any needed information for your trip?" Those words would have been lovely to hear. The continental breakfast was sufficient, but with no "good morning", " have a great day", thanks for starting your day with us". I am from the Midwest where we love a conversation starter."
