"A fantastic two nights stay was had recently at this lovely hotel for me and my Assistance Dog, Remi. The staff were wonderful, welcoming to us both and couldn’t do enough to make our stay a memorable experience. Thank you to all, names elude me but one I remember is Dom (front of house) The restaurant staff were also brilliant (I’ll make a point of naming them when I stay again in a couple of weeks time….have enjoyed so much I had to come back!!)
The rooms are excellent, clean, tidy with fantastic views (front or rear) the beds extremely comfortable and the silence is wonderful….makes for a great night’s sleep.
The bar is intimate, comfortable and a perfect place for a pre dinner drink as is the lounge area.
Only other review is for the Restaurant! The chef is fantastic….he/she happily adapts the menu (within reason) and the quality is spot on (this from me that was a Chef at the Goring Hotel!!) Breakfast is generally a buffet (hot and cold) with plenty of choice, good quality ingredients and perfect to start the day with.
All in all this is a gem in the Kent Countryside with historical relevance in its history.
Final note……I’m not a golfer or a swimmer!!! Both a golf course and indoor pool are available and am told (speaking to guests) both are ‘rather quite good’"
"Reception staff were very good, welcoming, very polite and friendly. Room could not be faulted. Breakfast, very good, plenty of choice and all hotel staff very attentive and helpful. Parking, plenty of spaces and felt secure. We had a small dog with us and there was plenty of grassed space to walk him."
"Close to very nice historical areas. If you like to bathe using a wash cloth bring your own. These properties do not provide wash cloths. That was the only bad thing."
"Room clean but you need to ask for housekeeping if you’re there more than 1 night. Electronic door key took 3 taps to open every time. Breakfast is over the road in the pub, self serve for cereal, yogurt, tea, coffee but order cooked breakfast."
"Hotel as you enter is lovely, a cosy vibe and friendly welcome from staff. Lots of seating area for drinks by the bar. We stayed in a junior suite which was decorated lovely, bathroom was great with robes and nice soaps (only thing I’d recommend changing is the floor in bathroom which looked oddly cheap compared to everything else). Lovely tea and coffee facilities with biscuits is a nice addition for when you get back from a day out. Happy hour with complimentary cheese and biscuits is a fab idea and the espresso martinis were nice.
Only downsides that took the shine off things, one was the TV didn’t have apps or phone casting even though it said it had both it’s not actually set up and we’d plan to come back early and watch a film on Netflix so that was a shame. Then I slept terribly as the walls were so thin (room 57) and I could hear the man next door or below, unsure which, snore all night so I barely slept then when I did I was woke up early by the same people at 6.45am getting up for their day talking!! You really need to sound proof the room properly that’s not ok. And if you can’t sound proof you need to provide good ear plugs and a white noise machine.
Overall lovely just the edge taken off by not sleeping."
"We arrived on the hottest weekend of the year and our room had no AC. However, the staff had prepared the room the best they could, a fan, curtain closed etc. and it was fine. We were in the refurbished side and the room was lovely, clean and modern.
The breakfast buffet wasn’t great - limited continental and low quality hot items. Staff were friendly and efficint.
I would recommend this hotel for its lovely room, parking and close to town."
