Very good value. Wide open spaces outside for camping and regattas. Clean and tidy shared kitchen. Off-road cycling options right to the door. Friendly reception. Guests must clean their units before leaving (I agree) but it looks like it's not always done well.

Lovely setting on the lake, with spacious cabins and great hot water. Friendly staff helped us get on WiFi. A few features could improve the experience: a table and a few chairs, a rubbish bin, and instructions for the heater in the chalet; a microwave, bowls, and dish soap in the shared kitchen; and a clearly marked after-hours key drop.

I was surprised to be given a cleaning check list at check-in advising that we were expected to clean the entire cabin ourselves prior to leaving or incur an additional charge. While the cabin appeared clean and tidy when we arrived, we couldn't help but wonder if it had just been cleaned by the previous guests and not by professional cleaners. The heater did not work, so it was a cold night's stay. Could do with some pavers or path from the carpark to cabin, as we had to cross a muddy lawn.

Generally positive but a bit mixed about some things. Staff were awesome, really helpful and the grounds beautiful and chalet itself were nice. I also knew going in, that there was no bedding provided which was fine. However for the list of things we were given to be cleaned before we left, there was makeup and food left behind before us, the mattress protectors that were there were stained and as a mother with 2 small kids staying alone, the chalet had a glass door with no blind that the next occupants walked past to get to their room and there was no way of locking our door from the inside? We ended up reaching through from a window to lock it once in? It didn't feel that safe. We were only after one night and cheap beds which was great and the surrounding lovely, but the unsafe feeling may put me off again.

Simple, clean, affordable camping cabin
We wanted camping experience but not in a tent. This cabin was perfect! Closing doors and windows, simple bunk beds, shower, toilet, sink and so clean! The community kitchen was really convenient with fridge to keep our food and dishes and cook Ware for the 2 stoves let us make home cooked meals and share stories with the other cabin renters. The playground for the kids was 2minute walk away, lake was 4minute walk and we could see it from our cabin window. The cafe on site was wonderful! They had amazing food that we indulged in for a chocolate Belgian waffle breakfast, what a treat! The staff was kind, we would definitely go back again. I only wish the lake had easy access to walk in and swim- it was set up for boats with the launch and docks, no beach, no kid area.

Thank you for your lovely review! The chalets are a great option if you wanted the camping experience without the tent! We have also since done a few renovations and upgrades on the chalet kitchens. How great is the playground, thanks to our site managers idea coming to life! The Podium Cafe is lovely and enjoyed by many. Sorry to hear you only found the boat ramp/launch, we do have jetties for swimming further down the lake. Another great spot is Waipuke Park (5 minute drive) there is climbing equipment and swings at this park, plus lots of open space for games, and access to the water for swimming and kayaking. The kitchen areas were very nice and well equiped and I loved the deck but it was a shame there were not more picnic tables on the deck. The camping area was very attractive and I was very lucky to get a shady spot and a view of the lake. It was great to be able to jump into the lake where you were hot. The event I was attending was in the centre and it was nice that there were doors opening onto patio area with views of the lake. The showers were great and always available and always hot. The toilets were always good also. There were also outside showering facilities, a drinking water fill up place, a tap at the right height to wash your feet, a cafe close by so all in all I thought it was great.

Cabin was dirty and had an ant infestation. Add said it ca,e with bedding but we had to sleep without. We were told we had to clean the cabin at check out. Kitchen provided no soap, towels etc.

Really bad
The bed sheets has many insects. It seems that there has no change the bed sheets. There has no pillow provided. 1st night - we double checked and made sure the door locked before we go bed to sleep. In the morning, we saw the door was opened. The door had scratch marks， I guess somebody use the tools to open the door. Be careful your bags and money if you stay in there. We really cannot sleep in the 2nd night. The washroom is clean. The location is not different to find. I won’t go there again.
