"Wakasa Bettei surprised me as one of my favorite hotels in my 8-day Japan trip. I think it came down to the fact that the premises were cozy and new, the location was serene and close to Todaiji, and the staff were just so friendly. Absolutely gorgeous meals for dinner kaiseki and Japanese-style breakfast too. There's a goofy charm in having a violinist serenade us during dinner, and offering to take photos of us in our ukatas smiling next to their mascot. Both public bath options they offered...
