Maua has the potential to be amazing and yet fails at every turn, especially the basics. The hotel is situated at the end of a very bumpy road which makes access to the rest of the island uncomfortable at best. Despite its isolated location, Maua is unwilling to offer shuttles or cars down to the main road for less than the price of a limousine in London. 763k for a 15 minute journey, versus 150k local cab, in exactly the same car. This miscommunication is at the heart of the problem with Maua. Over promising, under delivering.
