"The staff were wonderful and so kind and helpful. We got in late after driving from tokyo after a 16 hour flight and we were so happy to walk into the room we had. It was clean, large and comfortable. When we woke up the next morning and opened our curtains we were met with the most gorgeous view of the ocean. The breakfast buffet was huge and had a wide variety of choices. You could enjoy eggs and bacon and pancakes or have a plate of sushi and a bowl of rice. Every breakfast drink you could think of. There was a vending machine on the first floor that had beer and water and juice and laundry facilities as well. Not to mention a spa and onsen. The beach was a short stroll from the back door through a beautiful walkway down the steps. If you find yourself in shimoda this is a wonderful choice for a place to call home."

"If you want a really roomy experience , stay in the 2-storey maisonette room which is like a big apartment. Itโ€™s amazing! So much space and privacy and direct access to the pool and beach from your balcony. The hotel is lovely, breakfast was excellent and the beach is beautiful. Staff spoke a variety of languages which was very helpful. This location is also good for visiting Amagiso outdoor waterfall onsen."

"I really enjoyed my stay at Saint Raphael Villa. Iโ€™m a single traveler and the room was just perfect for me and had ever I needed. The room was really cute and cozy and I felt very comfortable there. I also appreciated the access to the kitchen to prepare meals and clean up my dishes. The location is very convenient, less than 10 minutes walk from the bus stop and the beach. There is a beautiful shrine about 10-15 minutes walk from the villa. The neighborhood is calm, safe and quiet."

"The view from the hotel is magnificent. The Japanese style rooms are spacious and quiet. I speak survival level Japanese, but there were a lot of communication problems so be ready to have your translator handy. Itโ€™s best to have a car to get around the shuttle service was hard to schedule and when returning from the station, they leave exactly at the hour they wonโ€™t wait one minute for you during the crowded summer months you cannot get dinner served in your room so you have to eat and the buffet which had good quality for food, but it was still an expensive buffet"
