Though nicely situated to Union Square and public transportation such as cable cars and muni, about a block in the other direction may be the start of the sketchiest part of the city— an area that was dirty and depressed with a very large, visible homeless population. My family never had an issue with this, but we made sure to stay clear. Nevertheless, I would gladly revisit the hotel. "
