"The property is great with a great view. The old castle gives an amazing experience. The breakfast was nice and there were many varieties and good choices for vegetarians. Using the sink was challenging as they are using the old two tap system but the tap is too short and the cold water pressure was low in the room so I couldn't use the sink. The bed was too small, short and uncomfortable. Other than this the experience was really good."

"Room was spacious and clean, but tired. Shower is a stand in a bathtub situation. Windows very dirty, and bed was a big, but needed a little TLC. Fine, but 2/3star at best. Breakfast was good, cooked breakfast very good. Service was impeccable. Bar service slow as the Batman appeared to be in the restaurant also. Accept this is Penzance, not Paris, so Iโ€™m satisfied, but not blown away, for over ยฃ200 a night."

The Esplanade Hotel

8/10 Good
"The only criticism I have was the cove restaurant was over priced and the service was slow and we asked for a dessert menu and waited about 45 minutes other people with babies were serviced before us we felt ignored by the staff and then to add service charge of ยฃ8.10 was a really bad when there really was no service at all My husband and I were on the 2nd floor and he couldnโ€™t manage all the steps so they did move us to the 1st floor however our room was tiny but I couldnโ€™t ask them to move us again so we stuck with it but would have preferred a bigger room when your paying ยฃ150 a night the swimming pool was lovely I think when you have teenagers maybe they need to have things for them to do to like mocktail making or movies for teens or arts and crafts for them etc"
