Accessible by ferry from Marina South Pier, St John's island is a quiet beach with clear waters and white sands a few kilometres south of Singapore and is known as one of Singapore's many beautiful offshore islands.

The island was once a quarantine centre for immigrants coming into Singapore who had cholera, beri-beri and leprosy. It was later used to house political prisoners and drug rehabilitators, and the high barbed wire fences of yesteryears are still present today.

Today, it is known as a place for the public to visit for a day trip away from city life. A paved bridge also allows you access to an adjacent beach known as Lazarus island, known for its tranquil waters and lagoons.
