We received a confirmation from Expedia that our booking was confirmed 12 hours before, then arrived within the allotted check in time only to find out that the hotel did not have a room for us and they told Expedia that they could not honour our booking. Expedia gave me no such confirmation that the booking could not be fulfilled.
The area is quite rural with no access to wifi and my partner and I had to basically knock on hotel doors to find another place to stay. The place we found ended up being 4x the price of what we paid. Mind you this all happened at around midnight.
Expedia would not give me my money back and I’m appallled that this is how their company operates. How can they charge you money for a service they don’t provide?
I’m never using Expedia again I find their company policies are akin to United Airlines. I’ve contacted my bank to get my money back.
