A little bit of heaven
This place was perfect for me and what I wanted - luxury and privacy! Felt like a home away from home and I didn’t want to leave. Perfect for solo travellers like myself or for couples who do not want to be disturbed. The staff are amazing and provide an attentive and tailored service depending on your needs, no ask is too much and they’re not overly in your face. The food at both breakfast and dinner/lunch and room service is exemplary. Very clean and efficient. Only downfall is there is some quite obvious wear and tear around the villa but as I went off season this didn’t bother me and nothing a lick of paint can’t fix. Everything you need to be clean was clean! I would definitely stay here and recommend this place again. Having travelled far and wide, it’s not often I say that!

Top notch property with very attentive staff. The manager Mr. Putu runs a very tight ship. Attention to detail is noted in every aspect...from quick pool towel changes to beautiful food presentations. There’s just nothing ‘not to like’ about this property.

Nothing else can compare
Everything about The Samaya is incredible. Service is out of this world. We had a villa with pool, completely secluded but with views over the rice fields. Even for a night it will make your trip to Ubud unforgettable.

Amazing villa. Beautiful pool. Staff are genuinely helpful and kind. Shuttle service to and from Ubud town. Great spa massage. The GM, Wayan and the Food and Beverage manager are friendly and spend time talking to guests to ensure guests are enjoying themselves and are well looked after during their stay. Any issues are addressed timely and efficiently. Lovely stay!

a dream to stay here, highly recommend for couples
My husband and I had such a heavenly time at this resort. The staff was so friendly and helpful, they always knew our names and were extremely helpful and polite. They were very attentive and knew anytime we left our room so they could do turn down service early and quickly. The grounds are tropical and lush. The villas are very private, lots of space, and quite frankly, nicer than the over-water bungalows that we stayed in for our honeymoon. This is one of the nicest villas we've been lucky to stay in. For what you pay, you get so much! The villa is gorgeous and so spacious. Your own personal plunge pool with a patio, a covered pagoda to relax in the shade overlooks a pond with coi. The room itself is also very spacious with an equally impressive bathroom. Fresh fruit is in your room every day and you can let them know what you like/don't like. Free breakfast is included and you can opt to have breakfast served in your villa. Free shuttle service to town anytime. They offer free activities like yoga, hiking, etc. We did the yoga; very relaxing way to start the day. We often didn't see guests and felt so relaxed the entire time. The restaurant at the resort is one of the most famous in Ubud, which was a great surprise as a guest. It's along the river and is quite the backdrop. The grounds are vast and you can walk around easily or they have golf carts to take you wherever you want to go. I was very sad to leave. I highly recommend this resort and will come back again!

Feels like coming home
Amazing experience (again)! We visited Samaya Ubud for the third consecutive time and words fail to describe how wonderful we have been received, and how amazing our time has been there. The staff was very friendly and helpful with dinner reservations and shuttle, and they absolutely spoiled our 2 year old son who was ecstatic about the buggy. We loved our privacy in the villa, with our pristine pool and sun beds, and a huge fish pond.   Towels were changed 2 times a day (wow!), and we received fruits and cakes every day. To us, Samaya has become a second home and it was this feeling that made us return so many times. After Samaya, we spent a couple of nights at another private villa (same star category!) meeting some friend who stayed there, and we unfortunately came to regret that decision. Many thanks to Wayan, Gede, Mahendra, 'uncle' Eddie and the entire Samaya staff for their professionalism, hospitality and friendliness. We can't wait to see you again next year!

Memorable stay in Ubud....
Unexpected & Unbelivable! The hospitality n services was the best ever being experienced. The Spring water available in the hotel was available in d room and the swimming pool, very natural n good!! The breakfast for the best ever had especially it's no time control as long as it taken in that day, the selection n quality of food was better than any 5 stars resort!! I will personally recommend my friends n be back with my family again!! Original, natural n warmth!!!

It was a ok experience for us, the Hotel itself and their staff are excellent, my major disappointment was that from day one we had Gecko's in the Villa, there were about 3 or four in room and in Bathroom, also lots outside the wooden planks near door and windows. We have a thing with Gecko's and really scared of them and this didn't help. Did not mind if they remain outside the Villa but there was a hole somewhere in Villa that they kept coming in. Excellent breakfast. Service by staff was great as they responded to get the Gecko's out as soon as we called them without success most of the time, that fearful experience was very uncomfortable. It rained the three days so did not get to use the Villa pool....This is not a place to travel with kids as not much to do. On my final day, I had booked a 90 minute Balinese massage and told that will get 90 min massage for same price as 60min and to my disappointment the massage just ended before 60minutes, felt cheated but did not have time to complaint.

Absolutely beautiful grounds that were extremely well looked after. You cannot fault this place - the day Spa is wonderful, the villas are beautiful, the food is delicious. Review The Samaya, Ubud
The resort is a quick 5-7 minute drive to Ubud centre. The resort not only drops you off but will pick you up when ready. The Resort staff are very professional, and also sincere with Customer Service, everyone from the Gardiner to Management could not do enough when it was requested. The Restaurant beside the river was an awesome retreat to relax and chill out after a day sightseeing. Our private Villa was our sanctuary within the resort and very quite. Fronting the river, and no roads near us provided us with a very Zen like experience. Yes we had groups travelling down the river white water rafting, however this was not constant and the occasional laugh and squeal provided us with a little laugh as well. The Day Spa was a much needed sanctuary, the massages worked well and released the built up tension that our bodies get over time.

The Samaya Ubud offered us a fantastic week long stay. Everything was exceptional...service and staff, high quality chef style food available morning to night, butler on call, spa, concierge...simply the best resort hotel we have been lucky enough to find. Always friendly staff went above and beyond. Small details and large were perfect. Our private "100 candles dinner" at sunset on the river, catered to our tastes, was unforgettable . They spoilt us the whole week and we wonder if all other resorts will fall short. Breakfast overlooks rice paddies. Dinner restaurant has seating that overlooks a river . Food can be served at your own private pool/garden too. Paradise .

Naturally you'd expect a hotel in this price category to be right up there. But then it really comes down to the staff to make it perfect. And the entire team here doesn't disappoint. Superb attitude and friendliness coupled with absolute professionalism. We had the hundred candle dinner. But there were more than 100 candles.. and the rose petals... during the dinner and in the spa afterwards... Delightful

The Paradise !!!
There are not enough words that can explain how wonderful The Samaya is, it’s a paradise of its own, and from the minute that the driver picked us up to the time we drove out of the gates was better than anything I have ever experienced. All of the team members are friendly and go above and beyond each time. Back to the review, we asked Samaya to send a drive to pick us up from our villa in Seminyak. He arrived right on time and it was a very comfortable trip up to Ubud with a fixed rate amount, the staff was waiting for us when we arrived and knew who we were before we even walked in the door! , check in was a very simple process and then we were taken for a tour around the amazing resort to be introduced to the hotel, facilities and surrounding areas, we loved the little carts they used to help guests get around the resort! It is very spread out and on quite a steep hill, so it was lovely to be able to call them when we wanted to head up to the reception, the staff around the grounds always stopped with whatever they were doing and said hello to us. We stayed in one of the riverside villas (#208). The décor was tasteful, room was large, bathroom was stunning and very large, separate toilet, separate shower, and Jacuzzi/hot tub with bath salts and bath oil. On the outside we had our own pool that was about 1.8 meter deep all around. Also, we had a beautiful cabana next to the pool to lounge in. Breakfast is complimentary daily, you may choose to have it in your villa but we chose to enjoy it at The Scene restaurant, breakfast served starting at 7 and until the last guest has finished eating – great for the sleep in :) and you can order as much as you want, also they provided a personalized mini newspaper daily to read while enjoying it! The view over the valley is stunning and we loved sitting out there every day. The Afternoon Tea is complimentary daily at “Swept Away” which was a perfect treat with gorgeous and different food each day and enjoyable while sitting down by the river. (worth leaving the perfection of the villa for) and we also had dinner twice at Swept Away which was excellent and all of the food was prepared for us was of the highest quality and left us wanting more, it’s really fantastic and the staff was super friendly. As for the Spa, we had a “couples” treatment plan in a beautiful room near the riverside. To be honest, I don’t have much experience with massages and spas, but I enjoyed the treatment and I know that my wife enjoyed it even more. They used a lot of natural ingredients/original products for the treatments. The staff was not only professional and methodically excellent, but they were also very friendly. They made sure we were extremely comfortable at all times and very relaxed (I almost fell asleep several times) Moreover, the resort offers a free shuttle service to Ubud city center which is about 20-30 minutes away, this was very convenient for us as all we had to do was specify drop off/pick up times and locations and the shuttle would always be there waiting for us. Overall, we had an extremely pleasant stay at the Samaya Ubud and hope to return in the future. The service and attitudes of the staff really made our stay special, I would like to that this resort is the perfect place for people looking for a place to kick back, relax and just have a good time. It is a bit far from the main street with local spas, shopping, bars and cafes. They are all reachable by shuttle but if visiting those is your main goal, it may be better to stay somewhere closer to central Ubud, for us, who came with the goal of having a relaxing, slow paced honeymoon, it ended up being the perfect choice. Hats off to Wayan Suambara our Hotel Manager, Gede Udiyana our Resort Service Manger and their respective staff members. Again special thanks to the hotel manager for his personal service and attention. We can’t wait to visit again next year!

This is a very nice place to be
It's a little like being at the secret hideout of a Bond villain: you are whooshed around the site (which occupies the edge of a steep valley down to the river at the bottom) in golfcarts by 'butlers' and at every point there is an assiduous member of staff seeing to your needs personally. The riverside restaurant has both excellent ambience and impressive food. The villa itself is thoughtfully designed and the pool is (unlike some) both deep and big enough to provide an excellent opportunity for fun as well as exercise. You really ought to spend a few days here if you're looking for a bit of tranquility and wishing the smile would return to your careworn face. it will!

A slice of Paradise
We had the most amazing time at The Samaya Ubud. The Villa was immaculate. It was very tastefuly done up. Ayung river was gushing past just next to the Villa. We also had the 100 candle dinner. The setting is surreal and the food is other worldly. Also a special mention for the breakfast. The restaurant has a view to die for, the selection is very extensive and the preparations are fantastic. The property is very well maintained and the service is just spot on. A big thumbs up to the Samaya!

Secluded hideaway with convenient access to town
We enjoyed the room, the garden view and the big well maintained pool very much. Upon request, they also accommodated our honeymoon occasion and presented with floral decoration on our porch and tub. We had breakfast in the villa as well as in their restaurant with the rice field view. The breakfast was good - the pancakes were nicely plated. In addition to the rice fields, the villa also had wonderful river valley view you can enjoy during your complementary afternoon tea, or if you choose to have dinner or the romantic package. The manager made sure that we were happy. We also enjoyed the easily arranged complementary shuttle to town, which opens up our meal choices and daytime tour choices. Within their grounds, they also had buggy if your walk to the lobby was too far. It was a wonderful stay and we will plan to stay here again for a great holiday.

Amazing grounds and villas. Restaurants were good quality and the activities on offer are enjoyable. We had a late flight and the staff really looked after us, providing a later check out, showers in the spa after we killed time in Ubud and then a transfer to the airport. Perfect hotel for relaxation.

Tropical Hideaway
The Samaya excelled. You come off the chaotic dusty roads of Bali into a tropical hideaway, where you are treated like royalty. We ate two dinners in the open air restaurant with a background of rushing river, and breakfasts overlooking rice paddies, a feast for both eyes and stomach. Service was friendly and impeccable. We enjoyed day trips to nearby Ubud and further north to temples and rice terraces, using hotel organised cars & drivers who were so reasonably priced. We were only there for a few days but could easily have used it as a base for exploring further north.It is such an individual haven compared to the bustle and scurry of Bali.If you want to avoid the mass produced Bali this is the place for you.

The most beautiful setting and the best service we've ever experienced. From beginning to end, this hotel attentively catered to our every need with unsurpassed professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness on every level. Restaurant offered a varied menu. Food quality and presentation were exceptional. Spa services were also varied and blissful. Our villa (#204) was impeccable and intimate. Both indoor and outdoor spaces exhibited a great attention to design detail, right down to a sedap melam tree in the garden that gave off a wonderful aroma at the end of the day. We thought we'd died and gone to heaven.

Everything about the Samaya was amazing--the service, the accommodations, the food, the available excursions! I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel. I can not wait to go back! The hotel is nestled in the mountains and about an hour to an hour and a half away from the hotel. The spa was also wonderful. I give this hotel as many stars as I am allowed!

It's really hard to find fault with this place. The service is impeccable with personalization of names and even on their daily newsletter. The staff even the security guards greet you with a smile! Freshly baked bread for breakfast delivered to the villa. The toilet comes with a jacuzzi with bath salts, luffa and even aloe Vera gel. The spa is awesome too. Great service with superb massage skills. I will rate it a 5 for all if not for the housekeeper who accidentally left used tissues after cleaning up at the bathtub and sink and also they promised to trim the plants at our entrance but it didn't happen. Samaya should start to have maintenance checks if not major problems will occur from small leakages. Samaya should have their own little mini mart for guests who want some other snacks and drinks etc as they are quite scheduled and deep in. Despite that, I will go back to samaya again. Thanks!

Surpassed our every expectation!
From the moment we arrived to the last glimpse as we left, the entire staff and service was exceptional. The location is incredible with a view of a working rice field for breakfast or lunch, and literally touching a beautiful river for a quiet dinner. The villa (room) was beautifully designed with a large personal pool. They thought of just about everything and we didn't want to leave. The quality of the food for each meal was impeccable and for the price, it was worth even more. The overall experience was our best ever and we've traveled the world enough to know. Thank you!

Best service ever!
Staff and service was immaculate! Amazing hotel grounds set amidst scenic rice fields. Breakfast was also a highlight - ala carte buffet breakfast whenever and wherever you want! A big thank you to the staff at Samaya Ubud! Hotel's reputation is as good, if not better, than what other reviews claim.
