"The room was great but a bit hot at the beginning. Then the AC was fixed and it was very comfortable. We appreciated the 2 bottles of water provided regularly lot. The breakfast was excellent with many choices that changed a bit every day. This is a bonus as we stayed there for 6 nights and one would want some variety. The hotel is on a lovely side street. The staff is helpful and friendly."

"Mr Emir at the reception was exemplary, but it ends there! The housekeeping were hit and miss, but mostly miss. Breakfast staff on top floor were not polite and showed bad attitude. The property only and only makes up the positive reviews for it’s location and views, but the hotel itself is very old and dated and needs a massive and thorough renovation. Air condition works but so-so and breakfast just does the job (ONLY JUST). I think a 2/5 star rating overall is adequate, however, I was seriously considering giving them a 1 star review, but that would have been too harsh. They said the hotel was fully booked but I really think it wasn’t and I only ever heard other stayers at the hotel commending the views and nothing else. Apparently there has been a change of ownership in the last few years and the last known renovation was in 2013, so these new owners have neglected the property BIG TIME! I wouldn’t advise against staying here, as I’ve stayed at worse properties, but I would warn to be EXTREMELY cautious and if you need more water in addition to the two bottles that they are supposed to put in the room each day, but don’t always, I would suggest buying from the local shop. It’s rated a 4 star hotel, but more 3 star in my honest opinion. I’ve stayed at the nearby Sura Design Boutique property and also the Doubletree by Hilton Sirkeci hotel and they are both rated 4 star, but they are miles and skies above the standards of Hotel Arcadia Blue. It was always too dark here."

"Great location right in the heart of Taksim. Our room had an amazing view, which was definitely the highlight of our stay. While the room was a bit small for two people, the stunning view more than made up for it. A special thank you to our housekeeper, Bedriye, who was incredibly kind and kept our room spotless every day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!"

Pera Palace Hotel

"The hotel building itself is beautiful as is the internal communal areas like the lounge, which hosts afternoon tea, and staircases to access the rooms. The electric lift is wonderful, very historic and still in full working order as we gratefully experienced. The staff were all pleasant yet slightly robotic in their approach to interaction. Our room was perfectly adequate (wouldn’t want to relax for extended periods in it) and had great views of the city and Bosphorus from the balcony so long as you overlooked the loud, busy road beneath. The high ceiling in the room really helped offset the overall square footage of the room to give it a more spacious feeling. The hotel is in a good location with many tourist sites in walking distance. Plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Apart from slight wear and tear and dated fixtures like the rugs in corridors, breakfast was a letdown. Given we had just had an exceptional breakfast in a true five star hotel in Istanbul the day before, the bar was high but unfortunately couldn’t nearly be matched. There was a large enough breakfast buffet spread but it didn’t feel or taste high quality. The fact only eggs could be ordered off an invisible menu was very disappointing and having to make a specialty coffee yourself from a machine is not 5 star. We did not go for breakfast the second morning and headed out the hotel for it. Overall, the Pera Palace must not rest on its history alone to satisfy customers. "

"Be cautious when booking this hotel if you are looking for a good night's sleep. The room was not soundproof which they acknowledged when moving us to another room. The noise was constant throughout the day and night. There is a wine bar directly below the hotel, a rooftop bar above, a busy tourist route outside, regular prayer calls, and numerous stray cats in the area caterwauling all night. As a result, sleep quality was extremely poor during our stay. Breakfast was disappointing, with eggs often served cold. Communication with staff was also frustrating. Many staff members appeared to have limited English, but were reluctant to acknowledge this, which led to repeated misunderstandings and unnecessary frustration. The location may suit those who want to be in the heart of the action, but for anyone who values rest and comfort, the constant noise makes it difficult to relax or sleep properly."
