"Wonderful hotel, adjacent to train station and yet peaceful/zen. If it’s your first time to Kyoto and you have a lot of exploring to do, this is such a great location. I was a little concerned about not being able to walk out of the hotel to grab excellent food, but that couldn’t be farther from the case. We were able to walk less than 10 min to a highly regarded shabu shabu restaurant and a famous ramen spot, not to mention all the fantastic food in the train/subway station! The hotel staff...

"Great value. Modern boutique hotel room. King bed was really two queen beds pushed together with a Godzilla top mattress. I had to take a taxi to get from my side of the bed to my husband’s. Bathroom was boutique modern. The only negative would be that one side of the bed did not have outlets for a phone charger or a reading light of any kind. This is a very hip hotel with a fun rooftop bar with tapas if you’re hungry. The breakfast add on was $12 per person. It’s a great value. "

"This was our third stay at the Kanra - we love the architecture, design, staff and service. Our only issue is a physical one (our problem)- it is definitely harder to get up from the bed and the low chairs than it has been in the past. "

"The staff was wonderful. At first i was hesitant for an upgraded room by front desk but took it and the view was stunning and did not disappoint of the Eastern part of town as well the Kamo River. The subway station is directly under the hotel so if you need to catch a subway train or need to get off at a station near you, it will be conveniently under your hotel which also doubles as a shopping mall and connects to the shops underground in the subway station. The only negatives were the lack of bedside tables and the motion sensor light in the toilet room which was a bit harsh for those midnight jaunts to the loo. "
