I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go in 30 minutes or less. They offer a very nice breakfast in the morning. The amenities of the hotel are laughable. The elevator is "manual." You will need an explanation on how to call it and how to operate it. It's ridiculous. Even with the elevator, I had to haul my large suitcase up another staircase without help. (The afternoon/early evening desk clerk was the least helpful). The room was too small to be able to keep a suitcase open, and there was no place to unpack some belongings. There were no shower amenities other than a soap dispenser on the wall (my gym is more accommodating). There was also no shelf to put your own toiletries on. I was told housekeeping leaves at 3, so when I returned to my room and found the cups dirty and asked for clean ones, the answer was just, "No." You will need to shop outside the hotel for basic requirements like a bottle of water to have in your room. The bed was very uncomfortable. I got up with a stiff back every morning, and I noticed there was a 2 inch cheap foam mattress topper on the mattress. I hate to think what the mattress was like without it! I paid 200 euro /night for that stay. They required I pay in advance. I can see why. I would have left immediately on arrival if I could have. What a disaster.

The location is very central so you can walk to many of the local sights and also the Central train station. The rooms are on the small side but have all the amenities one would expect. The staff are very friendly.

I like: * No bed bugs. I don't like: * Claustrophobic room that in no way suits two adults. The room is the size of two double beds. There was not enough space to unpack our clothing or even store our suitcases. * Very noisy; window opened onto atrium so you can hear all your neighbors as if they were in your room. * Uncomfortable bed with a mushy mattress. * Overpriced. For $50 more, you can have a room at Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American, which is a completely different universe compared to this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel looks like a tourist trap.

We enjoyed our stay at the Library. The property was very clean and was in a great location including walking distance to all that Amsterdam has to offer including the main central train station. The staff were friendly and the area safe. The room were very small but clean. The price was expensive but Amsterdam is an expensive city, especially if you want to stay in thick of it.

This hotel worked okay for us because we wanted to be very near the central station for the Dutch Grand Prix, but we would not return. The rooms feel like jail cells (small, with high ceilings, very bare, no decor), there was a ton of noise all night long, the room didn’t feel especially safe, and while one front desk attendant was polite and friendly, the other was memorably rude and unfriendly. The front desk has a giant tv monitor showing security cameras etc. It all just feels icky. Not recommended, if you have any other options, but would do in a pinch for solo travelers or young people. I wouldn’t bring children to stay there.

Great location, clean & had everything we needed. Only downside is the room was unbearably hot. It was 14c outside when we got back yet room temperature was 29c - luckily we had a fan to sleep but there was no air & the window opened around 10cm no more.

It was a nice hotel to stay in, a little bit away from the main area of Amsterdam. Beds were comfortable, room was pleasant enough. Bathroom was tiny, and hot.

Everything was fantastic, very quiet, loved the location and the room. The guy working the afternoon/ evening shift was really great. No air conditioning, but the windows open and the fans in the room worked really well.

My stay in this hotel was OK, but marred by constant traffic noise from the busy road outside, even with all the windows closed AND wearing earplugs. As a result, I experienced 4 really poor nights sleep. The room also had no air-conditioning and was uncomfortably hot. In addition, the lift was out of order for the entirety of my stay, and it was quite difficult to carry my bags up and down the very steep stairs The hotel was conveniently located, a 5-10 minute walk from the station, and with great views of the Conservatorium, public library and Nemo Science Museum. It was very clean, and staff were helpful and pleasant. But, unless you can sleep through absolutely anything, I wouldn't recommend it.

The hotel is not bad for a short stay. But there is no climatisation and it was extremely hot in town.the windows do not open much, so it is hard to get air in.

For the price it was an ok Hotel....Small lobby....small Rooms....nothing exciting about the Hotel. DO NOT Drink the Free Coffee in the Lobby.....YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Staff were EXCELLENT and Helpful.....You can walk the city....(but just a few more minutes to get there). There were a few cool Breakfast cafes around.....Not a lot for Dining Options.....The Lovers Canal Ride was easy to walk to....close by.....But not much else around. In Amsterdam there are a lot of Bike Lanes....if you are not use to that....you can get Smucked by Bikes.....The Sidewalk are covered in Parked Bikes....it is hard to walk anywhere. Amsterdam as you are probably aware of....is expensive.....

First time at Hotel Library but won’t be the last.
I travel to Amsterdam 2-3 times a year but this was my first stay at Hotel Library but I would certainly stay there again. The only real drawbacks for staying there is the 3pm check in time and - if you are someone who cannot climb stairs and are unfortunately enough to be given a room on the third floor then the lift only went to floor two so you need to take stairs from there. This was not a problem for my but may be for others. Great location and friendly staff.

Hotel is conveniently near Central Station. Nice hotel-would gladly stay again. One of the gentleman that works there, AYUB is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to assist the traveler. Glad I booked Hotel Library!!
