I really enjoyed my stay at Inn on the Lake. We arrived early in the morning and Pamela gave us a very warm reception, stored our luggage for us and set us up with bus tickets and an itinerary to explore the nearby towns of Volendam and Edam - this helped us with our jetlag (as we had come from Australia and Singapore) and gave us a beautiful introduction to Broeke, rather than get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam city.
The breakfasts were wonderful - I highly recommend the Pamela egg :) and the view of Napoleon's tea house from the breakfast room was gorgeous.
After breakfast, take a walk around the town of Broeke - the town is so pretty, the houses look like dollhouses and the lake so soothing.
We were lucky to be in Amsterdam for King Day so we got to celebrate with the locals - they invited us to sing the Anthem in the church next door and we got to watch the children play musical instruments and sell/recycle toys, clothes and books they have outgrown. And the whole of Amsterdam seemed to be dressed in orange!
