Our time at Asmundo di Gisira was akin to staying at a museum. The breakfast room had lovely wall art, and our room was well-apportioned.
However, I believe this is NOT the place for an active traveler. It is more suited for someone who chooses to sleep-in on vacation, and have a day of lounging. Also NOT the place to stay if you have a flight at 9 a.m. (or earlier) as you will not receive the breakfast that is part of your room price. This is also NOT the place to stay if you don't want to micromanage your vacation.
We scheduled a winter hike of Etna, requiring us to leave the hotel at 7:45. Thus, we were informed that we could not have the included breakfast. We thought it nice that a breakfast bag was prepared for us - until we saw what was inside it: two child-size juice boxes; two "fizzy" waters (who drinks fizzy waters on a hike?!?); two finger-sized pastry; two packages of saltines; and ONE Lidl mini chocolate bar (for us to split?!?). PERFECT for a person that is on a diet (I guess?!) and maybe ONE person (not two...!!!). I also advised the front desk upon check-in that we also had a 9 a.m. flight on Monday and would require a "takeaway" breakfast as well that morning, as well as boarding passes printed. Well, you can probably guess, come Monday morning as our taxi awaited, NO boarding passes printed (although sent at 4:45 p.m the afternoon before to the email given to me) and NO breakfast bag (because I didn't "confirm" - huh?
