I got the female dorm next to the main staircase on level 2. Every night from 9pm onwards till midnight, the cigarette smoke from downstairs will come into the room as the windows have gaps. That was the only thing that ticked me off. Overall, i had a good stay. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was sufficient. Location was a plus. Convenient to get from one point to another.

Cluttered with lots of old matterest near stairs, clutters at reception area, chip off cups at water cooler, aircond not working well, mushy stuffy room smell, very steep about 60 degree slope scary to climb with luggages. Strictly no check in before 2pm regardless we arrived at 11am. 8.30 onwards Free breakfast of Coffee,white bread with butter & jam. Severely shortage of carparks, even the illegally parked cars on left and right side are full! Frequent police siren to drive away illegally parked cars or summon!!!

Hi Albert, Thanks for your review. Sorry, but the mattress at the stairs are all clean and for guests who requested extra beds. Also we always clean the reception area everyday and there's no such thing that's been cluttered. All the cups for the water are clean and all the aircons inside the rooms are all working well, you just need the remote to adjust the temperature. Our house keeping is keeping the rooms clean and tidy as possible everyday, if there's foul smells we can't do anything about it since different people are coming inside the dormitories everyday. For the check in time, if the rooms are available at the time you arrived at the hostel you can check in already, but since we're always full, you need to follow the check in time at 2pm since the house keeping is cleaning the rooms from 12pm-2pm. We don't have car parks but you can park at the opposite side of the hostel but it's a paid car park. Again, thank you and have a nice day ahead of you! :)

Sadly we tried to cancel and book somewhere else. But we couldn’t because the place was non-refundable. The wifi did NOT work the whole 6 nights we were there. It was so rough to not work, we had to go to coffee shops everyday to work. Breakfast was white bread and slices of watermelon. No toilet paper for 2 days, windows do not close all the way so mosquitoes will fly in. Sometimes you can smell the cigs smoke from the first floor. You can’t wear shoes upstairs. No fitted bedsheet, just a flat sheet, when you move at night, the sheet moves. Lots of ants in the room. The manager said he fixed the wifi, but it still didn’t work. If you plan to use wifi to scroll or work, do not recommend this place. What we do like is how close it is to everything. We were able to walk everywhere.

Hi Southida, Thanks for your review. Sorry about what happened, Cancelling your booking as the same as you check in is non-refundable if it's paid already. About toilet papers, you can always ask the staffs if the toilet papers are already finish. All the beds are fixed properly and our house keeping is always cleaning the rooms to avoid ants and mosquitoes. Shoes are prohibited to avoid dust and mud all over the floors upstairs and inside the rooms. Sorry about the Wi-fi, but the issue about the Wi-fi is already fixed, and is very stable. Worth my money thank you! As for me, the breakfast is served a little bit too late. We have to eat outside since the breakfast can only be eaten at 8:30am. Overall everything is okay. Will come here again if i have a chance. Great place at a great spot 👍

We loved the traditional style and elegance of the property, particularly the downstairs common area. We booked a queen room with private bathroom and were given room 205 at the back. The room was comfortable enough but on the smaller side. We didn’t like the fact that the windows were all frosted. We were also disappointed about the shower in this room which was no more than a trickle, and even started using the shared facilities over this. The towels given were also ripped and not fresh. It was a shame for some of these finer details to detract from what is a lovely old property.

Rough As Guts Don't Go There
The place is awful ,nothing like the photos and other reviews I read said it would be like.From the windowless, cell, dorm so small and narrow I could barely turn around, the dirty sheets , the freezing aircon that had no controls to regulate it, just made the stay hellish.As for breakfast ,white bread and chemical red jam just don't cut it ,then the filthy cleaning rag laid in the area where the tea and coffee dispencers were simply finished off this hostel of horrors.There is a lot better places around to stay at than this s**t hole

Good location, but that's about it
The place is in a good location, in the heart of Georgetown. They do have tea and coffee from 8.30 to 10.30 am (and sometimes during the day). They have WiFi. It works most of the time. This review is for their so-called "Superior Queen Ensuite" room - it does not deserve the title. The bed is very uncomfortable. It's clearly old and you can feel every spring in it. The air conditioning - well, it's old too. It can't be controlled by the remote provided so there is no way to change the settings. So, it's either too cold with A/C on or too hot with A/C off. There is a fan above the bed. However, for whatever reason it seemed to stop on it's own sometimes. The windows are held together with pieces of paper and duct tape. The light in the bathroom come in only when the door is completely closed (but you really need to open-close a few times to find the exact position for the light to stay on). It looks shabby. The walls could use some work, the fixtures in the bathroom are old and need to be changed/fixed, the sink moves if you put your hand on it, etc. I will not stay there again.

vintage charms in down town george town
this hotel is in little india section of the town. i like the location because it is within walking distance from the ferry to langkawi. the hotel is full of old century charms. my room is spacious and comfortable. this is the best value accomodation in georgetown, very convenient for adventurous single travelers who go to langkawi via george town.

One of the single beds was infested with bed bugs. When we complained they came and sprayed some repellent on the correct bed even though we didn't mention which one. Clearly this is an existing issue which they have failed to address. We were then moved to their sister hotel which was infested with mosquitoes.

Nice location in George town and UNESCO area
As this is a backpacker stay inn, the facilities provided actually is superb, ALL time tea and coffee supply, clean bath and toilet room with sufficient of cubi （with sufficient toilet rolls provided), room door is digital, I am staying in room with double bed with clean room, clean bedsheet, for those booking own room it provided 2 towels. Free wifi also. only discredit is the terrible TV reception.

This hotel is located on a busy street so it is noisy. It is important to know that several rooms are equipped with a window. However, these windows are facing the corridor of the hotel, not outside! Our air coinditioning was not properly working, howerver from 31C it managed to cool the 7m2 room down to 28C in 3h. No action from the guest house staffs.

Hopeless,Hopeless & More Hopeless.Here are few points which you should know or consider before opting to this hotel: 1) Location mentioned by Hotels.com is just one of their main branches which then allocate other rooms of Red Inn Court which are at least 10 Min’s walk away. 2) We can find several Red Inn Court’s in the Love Lane and you go and ask if they see your accommodation. They then direct you to other location. This creates frustration because you might have dropped by taxi at main location and when you ask at other Red Inn Court reception they are angry for several reasons like a)That location does not offer Family Rooms, b)That location Family Rooms are full c)Much Q of others who are waiting for their turn c)Other reasons 3) Finally when you are in your room, you can hear people speaking from nearby rooms , Walking sounds on roof, similar sounds even in shower room. When you ask to change the room answer they give is “Sir we don’t have any more rooms with private shower” 4) Room doesn’t have TV,WIFI is very weak like it takes 5 mins to open google itself. 5)Breakfast is served in common area near reception with no information provided when you checkin

On a very noisy street, difficult to sleep...A lot of black molds in the a/c. Shared showers are old, but seem to be clean. Breakfast included, but if you don't eat noodles in the morning, all you get is white bread toasts with water melon.

We stayed four nights and felt very comfortable after leaving a hotel. The king sized bed is comfy, the hard drive movie selection was good and kept us entertained while it rained a few evenings. The showers are had hot water most of the time and were always clean. There are four showerheads in each one! The floors are a bit thin so you can hear people walking around if you are on the first floor. The provide earplugs if the traffic bothers you, but we slept well. It is located in the Little India area so there are many shops and food stalls around as well as cafes across the street. We loved being so close to the bus station and ferry. The breakfast is just ok ..toast, flatbread, fruit. There is a cozy main area with beanbags and a large dvd selection. The free computer was good for researching, but we also had wifi in the room. It wad a great base to explore Georgetown from. Free bikes too!

Kleines, in die Jahre gekommenen Zimmer mit einem Minibad. Man spürt das Flair des letzten Jahrhunderts. Tolle Lage in Chinatown. Zum Frühstück gibt es Kaffee und schwarzen Tee, Toastbrot und Orangenmarmelade, Wassermelone. Für den Preis absolut ok!
