Pleasant stay.
Looking forward to a nice break at a lovely location, the staff were fantastic and friendly, food was great. The drink prices were too high. The room was a let down, it was damp on entering, plenty of dust eveywhere, the noise and vibration from the road quite bad and noise from room floor above.

Beautiful, country hotel
What a beautiful little hotel. We stayed the dau after our wedding and wete upgraded tp the honeymoon suite. It was the perfect place to relax after a busy day! Service and food were both excellent. Thank you so much!

The historic building and the restaurant were very good. The accomodation was not good. Scruffy, not all that clean. We found toenail clippings in the bedroom, and broken and rusty facilities in the bathroom. Mostly it was very very noisy all night, with outside doors banging incessantly. Also you could here neighboring guests very clearlyThe staff were not really interested in the guests. They were very young, and out of their depth and gave you no confidence in that they would be able to deal with anything. I

I booked a twin room but we were given a room with a 5 feet wide bed, which consisted of two bed bases and mattresses, each 2.5 feet wide, with one fitted bottom sheet and one large duvet. There was a bedside light one side but nothing the other side. The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom both excellent. We did no complain until the following morning, but as the hotel seemed to be full, I suspect it would not have been possible to change rooms. We should have tried! It was a great shame as everything else, including breakfast, was excellent.

Small Room
Surprised on the size of the room, TV was fixed to the wall with no pivot to watch while in bed. When visiting the outside was being repainted with the workman smoking outside the door and window.

Our stay could not have been better!
We would like to thank Manager Luke and his team for making our weekend stay just perfect. No request was too much trouble. The room and bathroom had been nicely renovated. The kitchen provided a tasty and well-thought-out menu that was served efficiently. We will stay again if we are travelling through the area and would unreservedly recommend it to anyone.

Disappointment in Suffolk
We came for a one night stay to visit friends in the area. The hotel is beautiful and the car park large. we were quickly booked in and told how to find our room which was in a building beside the car park . The room was on the first floor and snug but clean. The problem was that it was the warmest night of the year with windows that opened on to the road and a duve of winter quality. We had a very disturbed night and would only use the hotel again if we could be assured of a room away from the traffic. The food was OK and the staff especially George were great. so 3 out of 10

Great food, on a busy road.
This hotel has a great restaurant and is located next to the busy A1017. Unfortunately, if you are given one of the two rooms adjacent to the road you may have a disturbed night. The antiquated secondary double glazing does little if anything to block out the traffic noise. It was disappointing as the hotel itself was not busy and a different room should have been allocated.

Had a lovely stay, staff very professional and helpful, couldn’t fault the service. The only disappointment was the cobwebs/dust on the ceiling and the wooden beams in the bedroom and throughout the main building but won’t stop me from rebooking when I’m next visiting family.

Overnight stay on an Essex tour
We felt the menu was too restricted . No light bite dishes for lunch. The cheese and biscuits were well over priced and the amount of cheese and biscuits too little.
