My wife and I stayed three nights in one of the superior rooms on the 13th floor. The room was a little small but cozy. The hotel itself is very close to Kyoto Station's Hachijo Exit (south side). For those arriving by air, there are two bus options, one from / to Kansai, the other from / to Itami (1,340 yen); the bus stops are very close to the hotel. Lots of dining / food options at the station and nearby. And one can buy an all-day bus pass from the hotel staff for 700 yen. Conveniently, the local buses will take one all over Kyoto. We didn't eat at the hotel, so I cannot comment on the hotel's restaurants / bars. And I cannot comment on the staff's English; I speak a little Japanese, and when I checked in, the staff member spoke only Japanese to me. I arrived at 2:30 p.m. but was not allowed to check in until 3:00 p.m.
